Posted on behalf of Kathleen, aka kazy55, for Ajax...
Dear Friends,
It is with exceptionally heavy hearts that we write to inform you of the loss of our beloved, tri-pawed, family member Ajax.
After bravely battling a variety of conditions over the past several years it was clear to us that his life would could no longer sustain the level of joy, happiness, grace and dignity that made him such a unique and special dog.
Ajax brought immeasurable joy and happiness to our lives and hopefully, in some small but meaningful way, to each our you.
Among the many names that we had for Ajax, one was "The Glue" because he connected us to so many wonderful people. He served as a silent alpha dog for numerous puppies in Central Park, a patient model in literally thousands of tourists' photographs, Best Dog at our wedding and was our loving constant companion and friend. Later in life, he became a teacher to people both young and old about courageously and positively dealing with physical limitations, and hopefully he was an inspiration for all who met him.
All of you opened your hearts and many of you shared your laughter, hugs, treats, adventures, homes, pools and meals with Ajax. Our 14 year old Labrador Retriever "Puppy" led a remarkably wonder-filled life, in no small measure, thanks to your love and kindnesses.
We deeply appreciate the support that you have given us and our little buddy over the years as we have attempted to provide him the richest and fullest life possible.
Special thanks go out to all Ajax's veterinarians, surgeons, oncologists, rehab therapy team, caregivers, house-sitters and especially his long time dog walker Martin and weekly friend Eva for their exceptional care of him and for being part of Team Ajax.
We thank each of you for the love and kindness you showed him during his wonderful life and hope the memories of him will bring smiles to your faces in years to come.
We miss our buddy dearly, cherish each and every moment he graced our lives, and look forward to celebrating Ajax's life and memories with each of you sometime soon.
All our love,
Bill & Kathleen

Shelby Lynne; Jack Russell/Shiba Inu mix. Proud member of the April Angels of 2014.
October 15, 2000 to April 8, 2014
Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
It's been a ruff week in the community, and our hearts are heavy knowing that we've lost another great Tripawd hero. We were so sad when Bill and Kathleen shared this news with us. Yep, he truly had a remarkable long life and was a wonder dog in so many ways. How we wish he could have lived forever.
For those who don't know the story of Ajax, he's been with us a lonnnnnnng time, since 2010. He beat chondrosarcoma in 2010 also mast cell cancer in late 2011. He even had a cruciate repair surgery after that!
His people are great supporters and always so willing to go the extra mile for their amazing doggie. Here's his entire story a few big highlights that demonstrate how he lived and thrived a remarkably long time on three legs:
