I am devestated to have to tell you all that our precious Brandy Girl earned her wings today.
Over the weekend, we had a difficult time getting her to take her pills and she seemed so tired and depressed. She refused to go out to the bathroom and she would not go in the house on puppy pads. This morning she was exceptionally tired and showed her pain. She had not gone to the bathroom in over 24 hours and refused water. We tried to pick her up to bring her outside but she let out a whimper as soon as we tried to lift her. I have never heard Brandy cry...not even once until today. The only choice was to release her from her pain.
We are all crushed, this came upon us so quickly. Having to place her in the car for her final "bye-bye" was the hardest. Luckily, my mom was strong enough to take her, I did not have the strength. My father is overwhelmed with grief. We are going to have such a difficult time not having her around. We all constantly checked on her, layed with her, hand fed her and made sure she was comfortable at all times...we are going to be very lost without her. From the rugs that cover every inch of tile in the house to the living room that has been converted into Brandy's bedroom. We are not sure how we will fill this empty void.
I often pondered, how will we know when it is time to let her go. Will there be an obvious sign? Will we just know deep down in our hearts that it is time? Are we fighting for her or for us? Our vet could not provide us with the answers to our questions. All they could tell us was that Brandy would tell us when it was time...they were right, she told us with her eyes. Today, she looked up at me and I immediately knew that she was ready. Her stare showed no more fight.
She fought hard from day one. We helped her live her life to the fullest and she enjoyed every swim and all the love we gave her. She is now at rainbow bridge with all of the other brave tripawds who have made the journey and I know they greeted her at the entrance, tails wagging...
Good bye my sweet Brandy, may you rest in peace and run free.
Teresa - Brandy's Auntie
Brandy was admired by many. I am saddened to hear this news. It is extremely difficult on the humans when it comes so quickly. Trouble's came over a couple of weeks, yet that was too quickly also. I had such a hard time adjusting.
We never want them to suffer, but don't want to say goodbye either. The pain lessens over time, but the unexpected tears will continue to fall - particularly when we lose another tripawd hero. It just breaks my heart.
Be kind to yourselves, allow time to grieve. Brandy is watching over you and will lead the way, just listen for her guidance. I am very sorry for your loss.
RIP sweet Brandy. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.
Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.

Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.
Love Never Ends
So saddened to read this. She fought such a good fight; a true Tripawd Warrior Princess.
It is so hard to get used to the quiet in the house after they are gone, but I hope you have peace knowing you did this great unselfish act for her and also in knowing how hard you all fought.
Some day you will be able to remember her with more smiles than tears. Run free sweet Brandy with all the other heroes at the bridge.
Hugs,
Jackie, Abby's mom
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. I'm sorry you had to let Brandy go today.
You did the best you could for her, she fought a good fight, and your family had the strength and compassion to let her go. I know these things are little consolation now, but at some point in the future they will bring you comfort.
Sending strong, peaceful thoughts to you and your family tonight.
Karen
I'm so sorry you had to let her go. I know how hard that last gift is to give. I still hurt from losing the Chili Dawg, and I don't know when that pain will go away. Take comfort in knowing that Brandy knew you loved her to the very end and that you fought for her until the very end. Love never ends.

Teresa,
I know your heart is breaking, but Brandy led you to the right decision. No words can make you feel better right now. Please know that your tripawd family shares your sadness. When a tripawd passes, it brings to the surface our own loss or fears for our fur babies.
Brandy is running free and without any pain. You will see her again...she is with her tripawd friends now. Hope says that she can tell the tripawds in Heaven because there is a slight glow around the limb that they lost on earth, that they have again.
