Oh Lisa, my heart broke when I read this. I haven't been on the site very much but I kept checking for Zeus updates. He was such a warrior and an inspiration for us all. I am so sorry for your loss and wish I could say something to ease the pain. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Tasha was a German ShepherdBorder Collie mix who was diagnosed with OSA at age 8. On December 29, 2011 she had her front right leg amputated and received 4 rounds of chemo. Sadly and suddenly Tasha became sick and we discovered she had liver cancer that had spread to her lung. After almost 19 months, Tasha earned her wings on July 17, 2013. No regrets and never forgotten.
Lisa, as I said to you already, Zeus will live on as an inspiration to other pups and their parents. He showed how to fight! He was truly a hero.
I love the story of how he got his name. We are still on vacation at the moment. When I go down and see the sun gleaming on the ocean, I'll know it is Zeus's spirit. He is with his brother and all the other heroes now.
Hang in there. Sending hugs and gentle nose-pokes from Rita,

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
Lisa, I am so sorry to read about Zeus. I know you guys had been holding on for a while, and that is so very hard physically and emotionally. Zeus was loved and cared for, that was always obvious. You guys fought a good fight.
I so hope you will soon find comfort in all the beautiful memories you shared.
RIP sweet Zeus, run free at Rainbow Bridge.

Dear Lisa,
I'm so sorry to hear about Zeus' going to the Rainbow Bridge! He fought long and hard and yes, you are right, he did win!
You did everything possible and more for him and he knows that, and so do you.
I was just visiting the tripawds site to remember my Luna, who passed four years ago today (Sept. 16th) and remembered reading about Zeus in the past.
You are in my prayers today, and so is Zeus.
Sincerely,
Sandra

Thank you all so much for your kind words. Today has been hard. I slept late because I didn't have a cold nose in my face needing to be walked. The house is too quiet. I can't get used to going upstairs without moving the baby gate . I ate a piece of chocolate without then rushing to find a special treat for my boy. And, I think worst of all, we left the house for awhile to clear our heads and when we came home there was no baby bouncing around and singing.
I know that I don't need to go on - you all understand. I also know that one day I will smile again. But not today. Or any day for awhile. Zeus was the center of my universe. Tomorrow will be hard not having him at work with me.
I sincerely appreciate all of your support and encouragement through these last ten months and now during this sad time. This really is an awesome community.
Lisa
Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

Hi guys,
I'm sorry I'm late posing here, I'm on the road and nternet has been spotty.
Even though you know in your mind you are getting close, your heart always holds out hope.
I know how hard these next days and weeks will be for you. I hope the good memories, including the fact that Zeus did beat it, give you some peace and comfort.
Your special boy will always be in your heart, and so will always be by your side.

Words cannot express the sadness I felt when I read that Zeus had earned his wings. He was truly an inspiration to so many of us. His sweet face always brought a smile to my face and your kind words have always been so helpful. I wish you peace as you go through this difficult time.
