Poor Frankie and poor Sally! He's in a good place where people are taking great care of him. He knows his mama loves him and I bet he just gobbled up that chicken with so much excitement that it was just way too fast. We are thinking of both of you and sending lots of hugs, prayers and positive vibes your way.
Mom to Tripawd Angels Jake (2001-2014) and Rosco (2012-2015) and Tripawd Tanner. “Whatever happens tomorrow, we had today; and I'll always remember it”
Thanks Jerry! I really do like the vets and techs at rhis Critical Care place. And it makes me feel good that Frankie wags when he sees the staff. He's such a friendly outgoing guy anyway!
Geez Lori! That sweet Chandler seems like he never, ever does anything "naughty"! Guess he just couldn't get to sleep that night without a little help!
Oh Karhi! That Garry really is a slow learner...and Ollie has him all figured out!! Daddy comes home...Ollie just follows behind and picks out his new "stuffie" from Garry's trail of clutter!!
Penny! The wax ear plugs too? Hank's another one like Chandler...looks like he doesn't jave a naughty bone in his body! Well, maybe a little mischief glint in his eye!
Merry Myrtle misses him like craaaazy! She's practically bouncing off the walls with "weirdness" and absolutely sticking to me like glue!!
I'm gonna call in a little bit and see how he's doing without his fluids...see if he's eating and NOT puking!
Much love ro all!!! And thank you....each of you!!!!!!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Yikes Donna! Thank goodness he didn't eat any! At least they don't make Excedrin beef flavored! Thank yoj for your support Donna.
Elizabeth! I keep telling myself he just ate the chicken waaaaay too fast. If he hadn't instantly gotten nauseous though, I woukd have felt better. I never have wanted a dog to "re-eat" his puke like a twice baked potato sooo badly!!
THANK YOU BOTH!!

O...M...D... Now we will never be able to eat a twice baked potato again!
Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!
UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!
Yuk! I just had a twice baked potato the other day. May never think of them the same again. Chandler did not eat for like 3 days. He just laid around and was not at all himself. Chandler is not naughty, it was my fault he ate the pill. That was what made it so bad.:-( The vets were so nice and said this stuff happens. Really? Have you had a dog eat Ambien before? Well not that but other stuff, they said. They had to look up Ambien in the vet books to see if it would hurt him. Then as I was leaving, a lady called the office. When I took Chandler back the next day, the vet told me that her very next patient ate, guess what..... Yep Ambien. He was a tiny dog too. BTW I quit the stuff cold Turkey. It left the house the next day! I agree with Elizabeth, he probably ate so fast. Then it is also probably like us when we are sick, eat something too soon and........ The vet told me it would be 4 or 5 days until I saw normal. Was pretty close that and now Chandler is back to his normal, handsome self. Frankie had the same thing, double dose of peroxide in there bubbling around to no avail and then what ever it is they give them there. I think Chan got a shot. Not sure, they don't let you back there. I am sure by the end of this week, Frankie will be bouncing around howling at the moon. Hang in there my friend, Lori, Ty & Gang
TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.
Sally, really hoping today sees naughty Frankie no longer barfing gobbled down chicken and doing well enough to come home! I know you will feel so much better when he is with you even though it sounds like you have a great vet and staff...and poor MM will be so happy to have her Frankie back again where he belongs. Hugs to that bad boy, to his loving sis MM and to you.

Sally - what a scare! relieved to know he is doing better. So, there are a lot of hypochondriac (did I get it right?) dogs in this community. Never a dull moment with these dogs. Had a scare myself here at home, but will post it in a separate thread because it has nothing to do with gobbling up meds.
sending healing hugs from Rio,
Daniela & Johnnie
Our awesome Golden Boy was diagnosed for OSA in April 2014 in the proximal humerus, front-leg amp on 05/20/2014. Finished chemo (Carbo6) on 07/10/2014. Ongoing treatment: acupuncture + K-9 Immunity Plus ( 3chews) and home-cooked no-grain diet. Stopped Apocaps because of liver issues. Liver issues: controlling altered enzymes with SAM-e and Milk Thistle. October 17: started having seizures. Taking fenobarbital for seizures. April 18: started prednisone.
How is Frankie? Did he get to come home?

FRANKIE. IS. HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE VET SAID FRANKIE IS DOING WELL...REALLY WELL!!!!!!!!!
BLODD RESULTS SHOW LOVER IS NORMAL!!!!! YAAAAAAAAAY FOR NORMAL!!!!!!
KIDNEY RESULTS ARE NORMAL!!!!!!!!!!!!! EVERYTHING IS. NORMAL!!!!!! HE ATE BETTER FKR THEM TODAY!!! Are you ready fkr this???? Prognosis GOOD to EXCELLENT!!!
I think he said...I think...we don't need ro do anymore bloodwork for now, unless symptoms showed up.
He called FRANKIE...ONE TOUGH DUDE!! He said HE'S SUCH A GREAT DOG! Everyone would come in for their shift asking how Frankie was doing. Now, he probably says that to everyone, but as we all here know, Tripawds just have a little edge when it comes to commanding attention!!
Just on a cautionary note, he said he had a case recently (and it was a HOUND dog), where the dog scratched and chewed his through through a wooden drawer to get to his "poison of choice"! As Lori and Kathi and others have found out, a lot of human drugs are tasty to them. I've forgotten the name, but he said a common muscle relaxer for humans is appetizing to dogs.
The greeting between he and .erry Myrtle just melted my heart! Myrtle was bouncing around in circles and kept going from one stuffie to another and trying to shove it in Frankie's mouth!
Frankie's pretty tired a d is sleeping like a baby right now. I fed him some SMALL amounts of chicken and left him begging for more. Knock on wood...he's only had to eat it once!!!
CANNOT THANK EACH OF YOU....AND OUR BELOVED DR. PAM, enough for all your shared stories of success, your love, your support, your advice. As I've said before, it makes a difference! It keeps those of us on the receiving end in a positive state of empowerment and not jumping ahead with panic and negative thoughts.
