Iron pills can cause stomach upset even if given with food. I would ask your vet about Pet-tinic since that does not seem to cause issues for most dogs. Has your dog had an iron blood level to determine if she really needs that much or is it just because she is anemic?Pam
I don't know (that is awful, right?)... I trust our onco and she said Shelby was anemic and it was imperative for her to get on these pills since her other iron supplements weren't doing a great job of keeping her iron levels up. I know they check Shelby's blood work prior to each chemo to make sure she's holding strong and able to tolerate the treatment. They also told me it was good to give her red meat and spinach so I do believe my girl is iron deficient. But I'll ask some more definitive questions this week! Thank you as always, Dr. Pam!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
