My dog, Kawi, has his leg amputated about 6 months ago after a rattlesnake bite. Twipawds posted a story about him! READ HERE
I noticed a few weeks ago he has a small growth on his front good paw and was wondering if this is a normal thing or if I should take him to the vet. I know money shouldn't be an issue, but I am still recovering from the expensive bills from the initial visit and surgeries. Snake bite venom is expensive! So I am trying to avoid vet visits at all costs. It seems to look and feel exactly like the rest of his pad but its in the shape of a little pea.
Also, he is a German Shepherd/Wolf mix and is 9 years old. He weights about 65LBS. He is very active and runs and plays outside a lot.
Sorry if this has been answered before but i could not find anything!
Thank you in advance!
Ooooh Kawi! How we love you so! Hi Andrea, it's nice to see you here, thanks for joining. Don't feel badly about putting money in to the equation, we all understand that here and it's just the way things are.
I know other Tripawds here have dealt with painful pressure sores on paws but I haven't quite seen anything like this. The closest I can think of is our Wyatt has a rough patch on the bottom of his hock on his remaining rear limb, where his leg would hit the ground in his earliest days of being a Tripawd. It's calloused and dark like a paw pad, kinda like this but not as pronounced.
I'm hoping our fairy vet mother Dr. Wiltzius can chime in, and others too. Stay tuned!

He's such a good boy when his mamma pokes his paw!
I agree that if it doesn't look like it's infected or making him limp, and it's not getting larger or spreading, it's probably nothing to worry about. Paws crossed!
