So zuko was on metacam 5mg and dex 1.5mg once a day for maintenance but was then advised by a relief vet to change the metacam to tramadol 10mg but forgot to ask if it is okay to give them together?
Zuko Is about 43-45lbs. He was diagnosed with osteocarcoma in April and had his rear left leg amputated and endured 5 rounds of chemo. He recently lost all use of his remaining back leg as well as bladder and bowel control. The cancer also seemed to have spread to his ribcage and the masses are prettt noticeable and have gotten larger. He is on the meds just to try and keep him pain free and possibly slow the growth of the cancer to spread.
Just want to send positive thoughts for your precious Zuko and hoping for some more good time for spoir and loving.
Qhile waiy for our Bet to chime in,please check with your Vet abput Dex and Metacam at the same tme.
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Thanks for asking Jane. Please consult your vet directly with any concerns regarding your dog's prescribed medication and not that only members with the Vet Expert badge under their name in these forums have any sort of veterinary education or training.

I don't know if the Admin ppst was directly referencing my post...or just happened to be a coinkydink.....or...if I made some taboo boo-boo!
So Jane, just to be clear. I AM NOT A VET! I WAS NOT INTENDING IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM TO GIVE VET ADVICE!!! So I sincerely apologize if it came across differently, although I don't see how.
I WAS MERELY ASKING THAT YOU CHECK WITH YOUR VET ABOUT GIVING METACAM AND DEX TOGETHER like you had been doing! Although I didn't express it, I just thought it might be something you definitely needed fo DOUBLE CHECK....WITH YOUR VET. That's all.
I know you are doing everything possible for your precious Zuko. We're all sending positive energy to slow those nasty tumors down! It does happen!! BTW, you are a wonderful advocate.
