My only real reason to share this is so someone out there can identify with someone who has lost their mind – because I am sure I'm not alone!

This morning I decided to go through the tons of paper I've accumulated over the years for Trouble – ie) rabies vaccinations, allergy clinic diagnosis/treatment/general info, spay certificate, and other records.  I'm getting all this paper in order so I can scan it and keep it digitally and reduce my paper trail.

Imagine how silly I felt when I discovered Trouble's birthday is 9/2/1998 – making her 12 years old in September, NOT 11.  No wonder the poor old girl is starting to have mobility problems.  I have no clue how I managed to lose a year somewhere along the way. Would it have made a difference in our treatment plan – no, not at all, but it may make a difference in how Dr F chooses to treat her mobility going forward.

I'm going spend some time with my girl, that time is even more precious to me now as I realize she is even closer to the end than I had thought.

Time flies when you're having fun! We'll just have to have another celebration to make up for that lost year. Yay, more ice cream! big-grin

Comet and her must have been born around the same time!  Can I celebrate Comet's birthday on the same day since I don't know for sure?  We can have double birthdays!

I got Comet in January 99 and she was probably 4-5, maybe 6 months.  She doubled in size, so I'd like to think she was 4mths.

Don't feel bad - I never thought about Comet's age until this last year - she stil seemed so young to me until I looked in the mirror at myself and realized how much I aged!confused

Her Retired AvatarComet - 1999 to 2011

She departed us unexpectedly  January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.

She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.

Hilarious! I misplaced my mind as well. When and where is a mystery to me way-confused.  I'm going to go look for my birth certificate. With my mom who knows maybe I'm really only 31. Your in good company Shanna.

I wish Fortis and I would have made it to the pawty earlier this year. I would have loved to have met you, Trouble and the rest of the family. Thanks for the laugh. I pray Trouble in good spirits.

I knew you would find the humor in all of this!  I've only been to Austin once in my life, so the chances of me heading that direction aren't real great, but if you find yourself in the Houston/Gulf Coast area we'll arrange to meet.  I LOVE San Antonio, so we do manage to get out there every few years - that may be a possibility.

she doesn't look a day over 5!!!  We got this new shirt in at work and it reads, "In dog beers, i've only had one".  Don't know why, but your story reminded me of that 😛

I love the shirt - I could have used that in college.

I always have to think about when Holly was born... so if you find your mind let me know cuz maybe mine is lurking there, too. rasberry

Holly joined the world of tripawds on 12/29/2009. She has a big little sister, Zuzu, who idolizes Holly and tries to make all of her toys into tripawds in Holly's honor. And she's enjoying life one hop at a time!

My birthday is next week and I'm thinking of subtracting a year.  I can remember when my mom was my age and I told someone I was 30, she got all bent out of shape and told me to stop telling my age.  I'm beginning to understand why it bothered heroh-my

That would be nice. I would love to meet you guys. I noticed you are from Orange, Texas. I had my last boxing match as a civilian in Orange Texas. That was many many moons ago but it was so. I was twenty pounds heavier then and had quite the straight right left cross if I must say so myself. LOL. Don't tell Fortis but his Mike Tyson approach is more than I can handle at times and yes he likes ears!!! Boy have we given my neighbors a few scares over the years. I'm sure they thought someone was in trouble for sure.

So - Fortis' dad - you're a boxer yourself, hey? And they say we grow to LOOK like our dogs .....wink I take it you joined a "force" - so as not to be part of the civilian population anymore?

And really - all this talk about age - and missing minds ... I'm clinging to 49, too, Karen !

Some time ago I determined that I was going to get a tattoo to "mark" turning 50. Little did I know then that the "turning" would be quite so dramatic. I haven't found anything that appropriately symbolizes a complete meltdown - and search for the missing brain ! I keep hoping it will turn up before I turn 50 ... so will you keep an eye open for mine while you look for yours ?! Maybe they've all run off together somewhere...

My girl Kona was born 1 day before Trouble (9/1/98) and she is definitely slowing down.  If she makes it to 12 we are having one big party!!
