This will be short, but after much deliberation, I decided it wasn't fair to the wonderful folks here not to share what is going on in our world.

Trouble is considerably worse and for all practical purposes is immobile. I've talked with our vet this evening and she is scheduled for an evaluation tomorrow at 4:45. He continues to think it is arthritis, we are both thinking the cancer is back. Regardless of the cause, she can't get around on two left legs, and she isn't using the right rear leg at all. If there are no treatment options, we are prepared (or so we think) to set her free.

I'm taking off tomorrow to spend the day with her. We believe in good thoughts, so if you have a few to spare, we'd welcome them.

From Jerry's people...we are sad to report that Trouble earned her wings today.

Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul.  Run free at Rainbow Bridge.

A friend of mine sent this to me yesterday:

We all face such challenges.  We are the 'chosen' ones, remember.  We were chosen because we have the strength (even though some days we don't believe it) to take care of these animals, to afford these animals, to do the right thing for these animals.

Know my thoughts and prayers are with you.  You will have the courage you need to make the choices, to do it right.

I can't think of anything better to say.

Sending all the strong, positive and peaceful thoughts I have your way.

Karen

Oh Shanna, I'm so sorry. I know that Trouble is an inspiration to so many here, but even inspirations need a little help now and then. I don't know what to wish for, so I will wish for some "aha" moment for the vet. Something that can be handled and that will have Trouble back up on all 3s shortly.

If Trouble is trying to grow her wings, then I will wish for you to grow strong, broad shoulders--broad enough to let Trouble launch from them. You will have so many folks thinking, hoping, praying for you tomorrow, so please lean on your friends here for the strength you need to handle whatever is given to you.

I'm not ready.  So, I'm not going to be sad tonight.

Denial.  Perhaps.  But I'm not going to be sad, not now.  Trouble is a fighter.

I bet Pam will help!

Not fair, Karen!

Thank you all for the wonderful words.  This is incredibly difficult, but I have an awesome vet and I trust him exclusively.  He will guide us to the right choice at the right time. When we spoke this evening, I was totally calm.  I feel the love and support of all my cyberfamily.

Shanna,

Both you and Ms Trouble have been such an inspiration as I was going through Sadie's amputation and treatment.  I was sure Sadie was going to be around for at least a year, maybe two.  I had you both to thank for my positive attitude.  Even though it didn't turn out that way for Sadie, I am grateful that I could be positive for her.  I will be sending positive, healing thoughts your way.  Please give Trouble a big hug from me.

Lisa

Sadie is my 9yr old Rott/Shepherd mix. Diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her right scapula 1/28/10. Our brave girl had her amputation 2/13/10 and her last chemotherapy on 6/6/10. Unfortunately, a tumor appeared in her back right leg and on 10/7/2010 Sadie's earthly journey came to an end.  On 10/24/2010 we adopted Ranger, a handsome Rott/Lab mix tripawd (got hit by a car) I think Sadie sent him to us.

Hugs to you Shanna. I can only imagine what you're going through right now. I am so glad you get to spend the day with her today.

Trouble is special to all of us here. There are certain dogs that I wish I could meet in person, (OK, really I wish I could meet them all) but Trouble is at the top of my list.

I wish you well as you meet with her vet, and don't forget that miracles do happen.

Please give Trouble a good ear scratching from me.

Shanna....

My thoughts and prayers are with you and Trouble, our fellow warriors, as they always have been these last few years, but especially today.  I spent a few hours last night spooning with Nova, talking about Trouble together. It's amazing how much I feel Nova communicating with me when we are lying close like that. I'm sure you'll be doing the same with your sweet girl today.

Lots of love and hugs,

Sue and Queen Nova, Your fellow November Five Tripawd Warrior

Dane Mom Sue at nova.tripawds.com and Mom to Beautiful Great Dane Queen Nova, a Blind Tripawd, who kicked cancer's butt from 11/08-03/13. The Queen is Spirit Nova now, but her legacy lives on here at Tripawds!
