As many of you know, Ted E. Bear is at the rainbow waiting for his family. Thankfully his sister, Isabella, is taking care of the family here on Earth. Izzy continues his blog in his memory. http://tedebear.....ipawds.com

For those of you who never had the honor of knowing about Ted, you can catch up on the blog. Ted was a very special golden retriever. His dad picked him out of the litter when he was 19 days old. Ted was the only male with pink pads. A few days before Ted came home, it was decided that Izzy, the breeders' pick, would come home too. Ted and Izzy had a plan, to become therapy dogs. At the age of 4 months, the two of them began training for this very special purpose. Both goldens were known around town as, "the dogs in training."

As life would have it, "life happened" to the family. Training continued, but the evaluation to be official therapy dogs did not happen as quickly as planned. Ted and Izzy made many friends traveling with their family to various places in their mobile dog house. Their presence where ever they were made a very positive impact, even with out being "Official therapy dogs."

Then January 2011 arrived. Ted's dad had been in the hospital, and had been diagnosed with cancer. Ted's mom had notice he had been limping and talked with the vet. To make a long story short, Ted had a tumor on the bone of his right front leg. The x-rays showed the bone was broken. Needless to say, Ted became a tripawd. The blog gives a more in-depth description of Ted's journey.

On a much lighter note, Izzy is here with us and she is 7 years old today. She is the queen of the house and knows it. Izzy has a sister, Missy. Missy is a 13 year old American Eskimo. She has a brother, Hank who is a terrier mix. Hank is 14 years old. Then there is Mulligan. Mulligan is a year and a half old golden retriever. All four of these dogs travel with their family all over the place.

Ted E Bear is watching over his family. Happy Birthday Ted E Bear.

I am a little late to the pawty but that just means it gets to go on longer!

Ted will always be special to me because he had his surgery just a couple of weeks before Dakota had his. And Ted's mom and I became good friends here while our dogs were recovering. Izzy and Ted were an inspirational pair, and when Izzy was on her own, she really gave a lot of comfort to her family.

Last year Ted decided that the farm dog Mulligan needed a real family with tons of toys, squishy beds, playmates and--best of all--a doghouse on wheels. That's when Ted arranged to get Mulligan into this family. Ted is still pulling strings, even though he seems far away at times. He's really not. Ted is, like my Dakota, right there in their hearts, where he's supposed to be.

Happy 7th birthday Isabella! You're a grownup but you don't have to act like one!

Shari

From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.

I don't know how I missed this!  Happy Birthday Ted and Izzy!  We also had littermates and we lost Merlin almost three years before Zeus.  It was strange, though, because I always felt like Zeus was still connected to Merlin even after he left us.  I'm pretty sure Ted is closer than you think.

Lisa

Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11.  A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

I'm trying to imagine the different roles our dogs would play, according to what I know about their personalities. I think Dakota would be reminding everyone to use their napkins but then he'd wait till somebody's back was turned and steal their cake. He could be like that. smiley

Thank for all the wonderful posts. Ted sure was a force in this house. I am sure Dakota would do just that, Ted would not care if his cake was stolen, he always shared nicely.

Mulligan, the farm pup, is getting older, but is not growing up. LOL He is an "on the go" dog. Ted and Mulligan sure would have had a blast running and jumping all over everything. I do know that Ted is here helping the young lad, he can be a goofy handful at time.

Izzy is playing very well with Mulligan. She is getting her muscles into shape as well. Boy, she sure can be a lazy girl, she loves her naps.

Thank you again for all the wishes and coming to the party.

A belated Happy Birthday to the beautiful Isabelle, and the awesome Angel Ted E Bear. I always loved Ted's name.  It let me know immediately he was one very special guy.

Oh Hugapitbull, you have no idea how very special Ted E Bear was. I remember going to a local softball game and one of the parents of a player had just lost their beloved lab. They asked if Ted could sit with them while they watch the game. I said sure, so off he went with them for about an hour. After the game, I called Ted and he came running. Word spread quickly of this, and Ted was welcomed by many around the area. After Ted past, Izzy took over.

What a special boy he was.
