So a stray showed up at my house. I was letting him stay in the garage and feeding him. I called him Tanner. I just couldn't let him in my house and risk stressing Brownie out. Everyday at 4:00 he headed up to the school bus stop like he was looking for someone. Jackie suggested that I check to see if he was micro chipped. When he first showed up he was so thin, and you could see every rib in his body. I thought for sure he was dumped. Well, after Brownie passed I invited him into my home. On Sunday I took him up to a adoption shelter, and wouldn't you know. He had a chip. His name is Smokey Jay, and he is a little over 2 years. He had been missing since January 6, 2020. The family was moving from Houston to Austin, and lost him during a pit stop 20 miles from my house. I do not know how he ended up in my neighborhood. Here is the happy reunion.
My Beautiful Beloved Brownie was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma on February 26, 2019. With all odds against him he lived an additional one year and eight days with amputation, love, and prayer. I was honored to be his mom, and I have never been so proud! He will live forever in my Heart!

Hope you don6 mi d od I add one thing. Nancy was a little worried that maybe the hoomans might not be as thrilled as they should be. Well, as you can tell, the video is sheer joy with dog and hoomans....the kids, the dog, the dad...sheer joy!!!! She said he ran and jumped into the car tail wagging and didn't even act like he knew who she was once reunited with his family

Yes Sally you are right. I was so happy when I saw the family and dog both happy as can be. The dad said his son does ride a school bus. So I guess everyday Smoky was going to the bus stop looking for his boy. The little girl said she wasn't going to preschool today, she was going to go get Smoky! They drove in three hours today to take him home.

What a great job you did Nancy. He could have ended up dog knows where but you kept him safe and fed and ready for this perfect reunion. I'm so happy for you Ms. Doolittle!

Thank you Rene, but all I did is give him a place to sleep and some food. I hope someone else would do the same for mine if needed. In a funny way he did comfort me since I just lost Brownie.
A shout out to Max and Sassy for playing musical dogs for a couple days. two dogs out then one dog in. One dog out then two in, and so on, and so on....

No, Nancy.... you didn't 'just do anything'!!! You saved that dog!! You watched over him, fed him, sheltered him, and loved him. You gave him a reason to stay and you found his people. Oh god my heart could explode watching that! That's the kind of thing that made me go back to the shelter and clean until the kennel smelled good and i smelled like...umm...💩💩💩💩💩🤣
You did a wonderful thing, and Brownie was in the middle of all of this💞💞💞

Thank you Jackie. When living in the country for so many years I saw so many dogs being dumped I just thought for sure he was dumped. Because of you I had him checked for a chip. This is a lesson I will never forget.
