Tomorrow morning- I am informed- we are taking another road trip to an evil place called Bing-Ham-Ton, New York. Last time we went to Bing-Ham-Ton we met a strange lady in a parking lot of a Days Inn and she had a strange Dalmatian. She handed my mom the leash and mom and dad put the strange dog in the car with me and we drove home. Harumph! Apparently this strange place grows Dalmatians in the woods or something cause I heard mom say something about a forester dawg or something...I cant hear to well anymore but I sure do smell something fishy. Stay tuned fellow Monkeybutts.

Watch out Sampson!

After my big sis became a Spirit Tri-Pug we went on a roadie to Sac-ra-men-toe.  We went to a great house and the people were handing out treats.  What a score!  There was other pugs there but I ignored them like I always do.  But when we left a boy pug came with us. He hid in a plastic box with doors on it in the truck all the way home, what a sissy!

But now it's been almost 2 years and he is still here!

Hey- hows that deaf thing working for you?  I don't have to obey commands anymore- my mom waves her hands at me sometimes, I guess that means something to her.  I kind of do what I want now, and I sleep really well.  I do watch the pug boy for hints about what's going on sometimes.... I guess he is good for something.

Quad Pug Tani

p.s. my mom won't let me have my own account so I have to get on the 'puter when no one is home.

I sleep really good too thank you! Mom stomps her feet and claps her hands when she comes home from work to let me know she is home cause I am usually sleeping (glad the neighbors cant see-how embarrassing-she looks like shes groovin to the oldies with Richard Simmons)  way-confused

Uh-oh Samson... Definitely sounds, I mean, smells fishy to us too!

Growing Dalmations in the forest?? That sounds like maybe a sci-fi movie or something. You might be overrun! Head for the hills!

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. OK- We went to Binghamton and picked up a 4 year old Dal. We are "trying her out" as she is known to have some "issues". Hey- she came with her own Zanaxway-confused!

She ended up in a shelter for "nipping at a child"- pretty open ended. The rescue pulled her and adopted her out and she "nipped at a man" and was returned-again pretty vague.

While in the rescue she got into a scrap with another dog that required stitches so she has been labeled as possible aggressive and is on her last chance with us.

(I keep thinking of Gelena and I do not want it to come to that but know sometimes that is the only option)

I would never do anything to put poor Samson in danger so I have been extremely careful and I have called in a dog behavioral specialist. Last night went OK- a grr and a snap but no flesh or blood involved. For Sam being a monkeybutt he is very mellow and laid back. He will turn the other cheek before fighting.

I really think its fear- fear of another dog taking her food, toys, getting her attention. The poor thing for being 4 looks like she has lived 100 years -scars, missing hair, anxiety.

Will post pictures soon.

Julie

Oh, that poor sweetie. Hope she realizes she's hit the Doggy Lotto and settles in ok. But if not... we are right with you that you gotta do what's best for Samson.

Good luck! (DId she come with extra Zanax for mommy? A bit of Mommy's Little Helper?) 🙂

You are indeed a saint!

ok, did i miss what this pup's name is...chopper?  killer? snapper?  hope she settles in and finds out she is in a safe place.  it took us a while with melanie - not snapping, but other behavioral issues...  day by day...  paws crossed this works out for everyone, especially samson!!

Oh gosh!!!  We are rooting for her!  I hope, hope, hope it's just fear aggression!  Fear aggression is easy to deal with and with Sam being laid back, then maybe she can relax.  She has got the most loving people now, so maybe that is all it takes.  Comet was seriously fear aggressive but never bit anymore.  Scared everyone by being Miss snappy jaws, but never made contact.

Is she in good health otherwise?  Sometimes health issues can cause a dog to be snippy. Maybe prozac instead of Xanax?  Dunno.

If by some chance it doesn't work, maybe a call to Best Friends?  These are the types of dogs they seem to have a sanctuary for and have expert rehab folks.

I agree with everyone........take the xanax for yourself!

It seems to me that all dog aggression is based in fear. We don't always know what sets things in motion but the root seems to be fear. Of course, if Princess Chopper has learned that this gets her what she wants (probably to be left alone because no one can hurt her then), it's a pattern with a "history." Sometimes it's really hard to overcome history. I think she's in a good place with you guys, though. You are dedicated and determined and have hearts of gold.

Tell Samson it could have been much, much worse. The Days Inn could be growing chee-wa-was that bite his ankles and then run away. Those are much harder to capture and discipline!

Game plan A: We need to find an obedience class and get her socialized. I see lots of trips to the Tractor Supply Store in our near future
