Trouble is camped out in front of the oven waiting for the turkey to come out!whatever

She has done this with every turkey ever baked at our house.  She'll be in the kitchen resting patiently in front of the over for about another hour.

I did split the giblets between them and took the meat off the neck for them.  She came back to lay beside me after her snack.

The first turkey we cooked when she was a pup, Bob had in the oven while I was working.  He called me and said "I think there is something wrong with this dog."  So I asked what was wrong.  He says "she's in front of the oven and I can't get her to move."  That poor little puppy sat in front of the oven the entire time the turkey cooked.

Awww... That is so cute! I am not cooking a turkey this year, but will definitely bring home leftovers for the girls. However, we have our first fire going in the fireplace, because it is freezing out tonight. As soon as we started the fire, Nova woke up and found her way to the fireplace, and sprawled right in front. She loves to lay by the fire.

OMG... Trouble.... Friday is your 2 year ampuversary. Just thinking of it brings tears to my eyes... Tear of joy that is! And 12 years old too! Congratulations, Tripawd Warrior!

I agree - too cute. Given it takes quite a while for a turkey to cook, Trouble has a heckuva lot of patience!

Twenty-four months. Twelve years old and two-years of cancer butt kicking. Inspirational!

Have a happy Thanksgiving!

Well someone has got to watch it the whole time to make sure nothing happens!!! She is helping out!!! And her reward I am sure is some turkey 🙂

Chloe became a rear amp tripawd on 7-29-10. Another tumor was removed on front leg 2-20-14. Found 3rd tumor on neck 2-2015, but she's still kicking cancer's butt at age 14. Chloe's blog

Trouble sounds like a dog after my own heart!! Once our turkey is in the oven, I also camp out there until it comes out! I take loving care of all our turkeys, I do the honors myself every year, in 28 years of marriage - Coopsmom has yet to ever have to fix a thanksgiving dinner. It is one of my favorite meals of the year to cook and eat! In fact here at our house.... the rest of the pack gets a bit tired of turkey - cause I do one for thanksgiving , then Christmas then of course newyears and of COURSE ground hogs day..... Cooper and I dont see what the big deal is!! Turkey is pawsome!!! laughing

That is so funny and just so darned adorable!

Trouble I think you and Comet were separated at birth!    Comet does that with peanut butter cookies!   It makes her so mad when the oven timer goes off and she still cant have a cookie!

Her Retired AvatarComet - 1999 to 2011

She departed us unexpectedly  January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.

She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.

Until the last two years, Bob always cooked Thanksgiving dinner.  When we first married, it was a huge affair of family and friends.  For many, many years we hosted this huge meal, and mid afternoon he would leave to go hunting and I was stuck with all these leftovers.  One year I finally told him this was unnecessary.  We would go out to eat and he could leave and there would be no leftovers.  We did that for another many years.  I don't remember Thanksgiving day the year Trouble was diagnosed.  We picked her up the Friday after and I cooked her a turkey Saturday, because by far it is her favorite food.  Last year I was so thankful to have Trouble for a full year, we had a celebration meal.  Bob's COPD began to make it difficult for him to expend a lot of energy, so I did the meal except for the bread stuffing - that's his and his alone.  This year, another 12 months behind us, we repeated the same thing.

With luck on our side we'll have at least one more.  After all, she is getting old.  I am thankful for this extra time we've been given.  I'm thankful for friends and family, and especially thankful to have one more Thanksgiving with my 80+ year old mom.  I am thankful for a decent paying job (though not always thankful for the job itself). And I am so very thankful for my extended family - the wonderful folks who make Tripawds the comforting home it is.  Happy Thanksgiving to you all.

That sounds so cute!  The dog I grew up with used to guard the turkey from the minute it came out of the oven until the last bit was put in the refrigerator after dinner was over.  I don't remember if she also guarded the oven - it wouldn't surprise me!  I'll have to ask my mom. smiley

And TWO YEARS!  Wow Trouble - you are our hero!  Think our girls will definitely enjoy extra turkey tonight in your honor.  And in honor of all of our tripawd heros and angels.  big-blink  (Holly's been enjoying all the celebrating this week)

Holly joined the world of tripawds on 12/29/2009. She has a big little sister, Zuzu, who idolizes Holly and tries to make all of her toys into tripawds in Holly's honor. And she's enjoying life one hop at a time!
