Hi everyone.  Hope everyone and pups (and kittehs too) are doing well.  I haven't posted for a while although I have been keeping up to date on what is happening on the boards.  Daisy continues to recover from her knee surgery and is doing good.

I have been feeling quite sorry for myself this last month as I am quickly approaching a milestone birthday.   I'll be *ahem* half a century old this coming Wednesday.  I used to be kind of a wild one in my youth but have become quite an old fuddy duddy these last few years so I decided to do something that I have never done before...

The weird thing too is I was telling the artist that I wanted the 3 dog paw prints because my Daisy is a tripawd and what an inspiration she and all tripawds are to me.  He told me that his parents just rescued a dog that had previously broken a rear leg and it didn't heal correctly.  He wouldn't use it to walk so they had his leg amputated.  Of all the tattoo artists in this town I went to the one that has a tripawd in the family!

Love to all,

Marla and Daisy

Awesome tat! Glad to hear Daisy is doing well and showing everyone what a tripawd warrior she is.

Don't worry about that ole b-day - I think it's actually easier than the 4-0. Now you can say whatever you want and just claim old age!!

Spirit Shooter was a Miniature Australian Shepherd who was diagnosed with a MCT and had a LF amp 1/28/13 at 13-1/2 years old.

Shooter crossed the Bridge on 8/28/13, his 7 month ampuversary and two weeks from his 14th birthday.

So glad to hear that Miss Daisy is doing well.  As far as 50 goes, well........  I always think I'm 50 until I look in the mirror and see my mother!

Have a happy birthday.  You can always put it this way -- think how old you would be in dog years!  Doesn't that make 50 seem young?

Kathi

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

Marla,

Wow this is weird. When I turned 50 (6 yrs ago) I decided to get a tattoo also. My sister bought it for me as a present so I have a horse on my belly (it hurt). But I do love it. Don't worry about turning 50, I cried more with 40 too then decided I couldn't stop any of them. So glad Daisy is doing well.

I'm glad Daisy continues to heal. And I love the Tat!

I zipped by 50 a few years ago, I do think 40 was harder for me. As they say, you are only as old as you feel! Personally my body feels about 90! I make up for that by being very immature big-grin.

i did my first tattoo at fifty, I found it empowering as crazy as that sounds. Yours looks great. Embrace your marker it's a good one. It's really just a number anyway, just never forget to keep playing. If you do , you get old quick!winker

Lovely tattoo! So cute! And really funny/crazy that the tattoo artist has a tripawd :-) Glad to hear your Daisy is doing fine! Talking about age..I think we shall look at it this way; We all want to keep on living, right? So for every year you get older you still are alive and living, so it's GOOD to get older! Of course you hope to be healthy and feeling well too, but just say "hurray" to life and to getting older :-)

Wow I missed this post too! Duh! AND your birthday!!! HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY MARLA!!!!

Folks I can say with certainty that having met Marla and Daisy, Marla is NOT an old fuddy duddy. She hides her wild side well, that's all. Now it's time to let it out! WOOOHOO!

What a great tat! Talk about the universe bringing great people together. How cool. Next time we're in Columbia we might have to swing by that shop. Who did it?

Roo at Living Canvas Tattoo did my tat.  I know, I still think it's weird that his family has a tripawd.  Talk about 6 degrees of separation. Lol

Thanks everybody for the b-day wishes (although that's not what I was fishing for with this post). winker
