. . . but I am thinking that Gator might need a sister. The lab rescue he came from brought in a female tripawd several weeks ago (Audrey). She appeared on the site as adoption pending, so I presumed that they had a home lined up for her (kind of like Gator). But the thing is, she is still on the site as available/adoption pending. Sounds like I need to get to the bottom of this mystery . . .
Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016. Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016. Lung mets August 25, 2016. Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016. Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.
Wherever they are, they are together.
I knew it! I knew it! I knew it! As soon as I saw the title of your thread. I just knew that Otis and Tess weren't finished completing your family. They've made one hell of a start with Gator but..,
Ruby, Staffy, born June 2022, became a Tripawd, November 2023, adopted January 2024.
Also Angel Tripawd Meg (aka The Megastar), who died in April 2023, aged 14, after seven glorious years on three, and Angel Staffies Elsie Pie and Bille. In the pawprints of giants...
YEEEEEESSSSS!!!! YEEEEESSSS!!!! Channel your inner Sherlock Holmes and follow the clues!!!!
Gator NEEDS a sister and Audrey NEEDS a brother!!! And YOU just don't feel whole without TWO dogs (at least)!!!!!
Oh my goodness! CALL!!!
And as far as "crazy", if that's the case, you among THE best crazies an insane person could ever hope to have as their friends!! Welcome to the Tipawd Insane Resort!
Okay, we'll be waiting for an update! Gator gets a sister for Christmas and Audrey gets a home for Christmas!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 :-), 🙂 🙂 🙂 And Otis and Tess are laughing their butts off as they continue to surprise you with their plans!
Love!
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Sorry, don't think you are crazy in the slightest. I don't believe two dogs are more work than one - for many, the added company makes them less anxious and more secure and therefore, to me, less work. Not less expense, of course....
I wish another companion could be a possibility for Mia. She is lonely. But she is also a crazed, resource guarding bitch - a dangerous one. Luckily, she does enjoy the company of the cats and is not guardy with them. We have contemplated a 3rd cat to liven the place up a bit more, but it took a long time for Lucia and Cliff to truly settle into their companionable co-existence and for real play, so I think that is out.
Check in on Audrey!!!
Lisa, Minneapolis
On October 27, 2016, nearly 6 months after amputation, and 18 months since his cancer likely started, we lost Pofi to a recurrence of Soft Tissue Sarcoma in his spine quite suddenly. His canine sister also succumbed to cancer on March 1, 2019 - we lavished her with our love in the interim, but life was never quite the same without her only real canine friend. Cliff kitty had to leave us, too, suddenly, in August 2019. Lucia kitty grieved all these losses, but helped us welcome two new Lurchers into our home and our lives, Shae and Barley.
Reached out to my contact last night, so hopefully will hear back today.

Can't wait to hear the outcome! I am assuming that Audrey is a Lab, too, but I know that sometimes rescues have other breeds.
I still check the sites on occasion, but Garry feels that Ollie is pretty happy as an only dog. Maybe Audrey's story will help him change his mind.
Kathi and the Turbotail April Angel...and the Labradork
Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!
UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!
You are only as crazy as the rest of us!
Otis' banner came up right before I opened this thread

:)..... you are not crazy. You are RIDICULOUS! So much joy that you have - I can't believe it but I love, love, love it. I am a week without my Sweet Ted but already looking at rescue sites - I'm not ready yet but it doesn't hurt to see what is out there....which is kinda what you've been up to, right? Good luck! There is also two sweet labs in Virginia - one is a tripaw and one is a share-pei mix who is blind...and so so sweet and really needs someone like you.
I love his banner! It makes me so happy every time I see it. It came up for me once on this thread too.

Busted. I was wondering how long it would be before someone noticed that I was still looking at the rescue's available dogs. . .

well I feel so smart that I busted you! I noted Otis' banner last night in the chat room and said "how do I get one for My Sweet Ted?" like I said, I'm a week out from losing my sweet boy and totally NOT ready for another dog.....but I'm looking at the sites "just in case"..
Not sure how you get one, but I bet Jerry and Admin guy have something to do with it. Thank you Jerry and Admin guy!

When we lost Murphy, I sent my three favorite photos to Rene. The computer wizards took it from there.
