PetFlow, a home delivery service many of us use, is helping dogs and cats displaced by the tornado in Moore, Oklahoma, by offering free shipping on foods sent to shelters there. They especially need canned foods as they are enticing to frightened dogs and cats. Keep in mind most of these animals have loving homes (or did) and people looking for them. As we saw after Katrina and Sandy, many of them will need new homes. In the meantime, we can feed them.

I will paste below a link to the email they have sent out. Open it up to read the full letter and see a heartwarming photo of pallets of food ready to leave the warehouse. There is a list of impacted shelters for you to choose from. Please note that the first shelter listed has been sent a lot of food and PetFlow is asking that we spread the love around a bit. There is also a code giving 5% off orders of $55 or more.

The gist of the letter says this:

Thanks to our customers, nearly 700 orders have been placed, are packed, and some have already shipped to animal shelters affected by the tragedy in Oklahoma. While there are millions of dollars in aid streaming to the area, animal shelters are often the last places to receive aid - and they certainly need our help. We have spoken to several of the shelters, and they have many displaced animals, many needing veterinary care. In particular, they require canned food, as many of the animals are scared and are more likely to eat if offered wet food. If you are able to help, in any way, no matter how little, please do so.

In order to accommodate for aid, we are waiving shipping on ANY order with code OKHELP and if you could send at least $55 worth of goods, you can use code OKHELP5 for 5% off the order, plus the order will also be shipped for free.

Note: PetFlow is not generating any profit on these orders as Oklahoma is fairly distant from our NJ and NV warehouses - we want as much aid to get there as possible.

Thanking my bighearted Tripawd friends in advance, (kiss)

I made some phone calls to these listed shelters and it turns out they don't need food! Donations have come in to enable them to do what they need to do. I wanted to edit my previous post but couldn't do it, so hopefully this will suffice. I talked with an official who told me they really need donations to fill in the gaps for these animals. She told me where to go to donate to their Disaster Relief program:

https://www.okc.....ounts.aspx

There is a box there just for disaster relief, and these funds will go area-wide to all animals in need.

Thanks again.

Shari

Thank you for taking the lead in this Shari, the photos are breaking my heart!

Here is another way to help:

BlogPaws, Pet360 and World Vets are teaming up using our Blogger Disaster Response Network (BDRN) to step up for Oklahoma. We’ve all seen the images of devastation and we believe as a team we can make a big difference. The largest need at the moment is cash. BlogPaws is reaching out to the BDRN and all the sponsors of the 2013 conference to pledge a commitment for Oklahoma. This <collective> donation will go to the World Vets who are assessing the needs on site to make the best decision on where the money will go – based on their work in past disasters.

Donations will be collected by World Vets here through 11:59 PM Tuesday, May 28th. The collective donation will be announced when the money is ready for delivery. Your help, coming together in a communal way, can make a huge difference overall!

Again, please use this link to donate a gift in any amount. We are hopping over there now to donate. Thank you everyone!

Thanks for posting this, I wanted to do something and knew I could find suggestions on Tripawds. I just followed your link Jim, and it let me put in the dollar amount, but my 'cart' kept saying zero dollars. Going to go try again, could just be cause I'm on the iPad. Lots of sites don't work with it.
