Our thoughts and prayers are with you Lisa.  I know it is scary not to have Greg there with you but if Zeus' time should come before Greg returns you will find the strength.  And you are not alone. We are all here for you.

Karen and Spirit Magnum

Magnum: 30th May 2002 to 5th May 2012. Lost her back left leg to osteosarcoma on 5th Sep 2011. Lung mets found on 20th Mar 2012 but it was bone mets in the hip that ended her brave battle. Magnum's motto - "Dream as if you'll live for ever, live as if you'll die today" (James Dean). Loyal, loving, courageous and spirited to the end. I know I am new here, but my heart melts every time I see your avatar... what a sweet boy Zeus is!!!

I hope he is feeling a wee bit better today. I don't think I can add much to what others have so eloquently written, just wanted you to know that I'm thinking of you both and sending all my good juju your way.

Right hind limb amputated 7/3/12 for OSA, started on alternating cycles of Carboplatin and Doxorubicin and oral Palladia. Single lung met 9/1. Met in the neck muscle removed 9/30. Large mass in sublumbar lymph node 10/2. Rescue chemo with ifosfamide 10/6. Mets to the rib and axillary lymph node 10/21. Started Leukeran and Pred 10/25. Wookie left this Earth for a far better place on 12/4/12. I miss you, Boo, you were my heart.

Sending you strength to make it through these tough days.  You are stronger than you know, though.  And you will be able to handle whatever this journey throws your way.

We'll be thinking about you.

Hoping Zeus is comfy and wagging when Greg returns.  I have been away from my princess Gabby for work alot of late and I feel a little of what you're feeling and I am ever so grateful for your long post and advice to treasure every moment.  Right backatcha!!  Fill the time Greg is away with lots of treasuring, and thank you for reminding me too.

Thank you all.  Your words are all very comforting and I am humbled.  We made it through the night and, based on what I choose to believe was a sign from my precious mother, I have actually been quite peaceful today.  I still can't wait for Greg to come home, though...

Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11.  A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

You and Zeus are both such rockstars and inspirations to tripawds and pawrents everywhere.  I hate to see you all have to go through this...I know it is hard on you, Greg, and Zeus.  The unknown really is bad - I had to go on a work trip right before Holly's surgery, and I almost missed my plane because I literally couldn't tear myself away from her.

Knowing Zeus, I have a feeling that he will hold on until daddy gets home.

We are thinking about you and have all paws crossed for more good days!

Lord help, (southern slang for "I don't even know what to make of this") he seems to have rallied some.  He still gets completely out of breath and gives out after eight or ten steps.  But, strangely enough, his breathing seems to have regulated some.  For the last month his breathing has been pretty fast almost like a light panting 24 hours a day.  Not sure if maybe this is the calm before the storm?  I do think that he will see daddy tonight big-grin!

Thank you for asking!  Now that he has made me into the little girl that cried wolf, I will spare you guys from further panic episodes. aw-shucks
