Keep having to check what time it is in Chicago NOW...
Ruby, Staffy, born June 2022, became a Tripawd, November 2023, adopted January 2024.
Also Angel Tripawd Meg (aka The Megastar), who died in April 2023, aged 14, after seven glorious years on three, and Angel Staffies Elsie Pie and Bille. In the pawprints of giants...
IThe amazing thing about this is that all of these drivers are volunteers - I am not even sure they know one another personally. They just give of their time (and gas money!) to drive dogs in two to three hour legs out of kill states to new homes coordinated through rescue groups in the Chicago area. What a wonderful example of the best of human spirit!
I read an article some time ago about them doing this with pigs in Italy. Someone's started a sanctuary up in the mountains in the North and the ferry them from all over Italy via volunteers doing shifts in cars. There was a fabulous pic of a pig being transferred from one little fiat to another somewhere in the back streets of Rome. Will post if I can find it.

That visual gave me a big smile. If you want to see a site about a sanctuary that was started with a pig who was supposed to be a mini, but turned out not to be, check out Esther the Wonder Pig.

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!
UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!
Sitting in a McDonalds parking lot remembering why I do not normally eat McDonalds food. Lots of emotions. Missing Tess horribly. Hoping Gator likes us and adjusts well. Thinking a lot about Otis' journey.

Big hug. Transitions are hard. Exciting, but also hugely anxiety provoking. It's bound to bring a lot of stuff up. The amount you've been through recently, you must be emotionally pretty exhausted.
We're all here for you, hoping and praying it works out well for all of you.
I have to say, I have a very good feeling about young Master Gator, but whatever happens, we will be here to support you.

Those two beautiful souls are right by your side today as always. They know the love in your heart needs to be shared. They know they will be loved by you for all time. They send Gator to help fill that huge void they know you had when they left. I can only imagine the emotion you are feeling. Gator will love you for sure how can he not? Dogs respond to love and you and your daughter are two of the most loving people out there. You got this Christine!

Anxiously hitting refresh on this thread ... I was rushing home from working knowing you are a couple hours ahead of me so you should have Gator by now (I'm in LA).... I know those ups and downs so well and the range of emotions ... but rest assured... Otis AND Tess are with you RIGHT now and giving you all the strength you need!
CANNOT wait to see photos and know that Gator is safely and securely in his new fur-ever home!!

PS - how crazy that we've never met (most of us will never meet face to face) and yet we all feel so connected right now! Spirit of the Tripawds Universe!
Shelby Lynne; Jack Russell/Shiba Inu mix. Proud member of the April Angels of 2014.
October 15, 2000 to April 8, 2014
Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
Here's hoping that Enzo was waiting to meet his new "doggie/kitty" buddy. I would imagine that Gator has never met a cat that thinks he's a dog. He is also probably pretty well tired out after such a big day. Hang in there, Gator. You have a whole new family here, most of whom you will never meet, but who all have your best interests and well-being in mind. You also have two very special guardian angels watching to see how their choice works out.

Geez....I rushed home early too with a great made up excuse (sorta')!
Okay, we know you have your hands full and your emotions are all over the place....but we still want to hear from you ASAP!!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Gator is home! A very good dog in the car, which for highway driving was critical. Very anxious when we got home, but perked up when I let him out in the backyard. Seems fine with the cats, almost submissive to them. Is trying to engage Enzo in play. Can sit, lay down and give paw. Walks nicely on a lead. Don't sent seem overly food motivated, and not very interested in the toys. And he is BIG! I suspect he has 20 - 30 pounds on Otis. Came with a medical file so we know he has his shots. Trying to get him to settle down for bed now.
Blog designer still out with her boyfriend, so photos tomorrow.

And he could easily be Ted's brother.
