All, your kind words mean more to me and Nabil than I can say right now. She passed early yesterday morning after a wonderful evening in the park and visiting with her friends.

She had stopped greeting us by Thursday, but on Friday night she doled out kisses and tail wags to her favorite people. Nabil's parents drove up from DC and came with us to the vet.

I'll post a tribute to her once I'm able to think a bit more clearly.

Darling friend 🌸

Jack is the happiest Angel in the sky, she was ready to get her beautiful silver wings 🕊

She sweetly kissed you and wagged her tail because in her heart she knew she was loved right until the last moment on this earth and she knows she will be loved forever now that she is an Angel 🌟

Love never ends, she is with you and loving family and she is free to fly from cloud to cloud with all of our Babies 💫💫💫💫💫

May your heart accept Jack is with you for ever, only difference is now she is with you in energy form 💖🌟💖

😘🐮💫✨🌟🌹

Sarah, our thoughts are with you and Nabil. Be gentle and kind to one another, allow yourselves to grieve, and take your time. You will find the perfect way to honor Jack when you are ready.

Run free Jack! heartheartheart

Sarah,

Sorry for the late response,  we had spotty internet & phone service.... several of us are at a girl's getaway.  We're all so very sad to hear of Jack's passing.   We know that she is frolicking away the Bridge with Murphy,  Cassie,  Pofi, Nitro,  Isa, Brendol, Sassy, & Max... plus Manni & Shelby.  🌈🐶❤

Yesterday evening,  for only a minute,  we saw a rainbow over the ocean 😊

Know that we are thinking of you.

Murphy had his right front leg amputated due to histiocytic sarcoma at 7 years old. He survived 4 years, 2 months & 1 week, only to be taken by hemangiosarcoma at 11 1/2 years 6/12/17

I just wanted to share this picture, which was taken to accompany a piece I wrote following the Virginia Tripawds party last year. I don't know if you saw it at the time. I love the way Jack is so completely and utterly focused on you. You were not just the centre of her world, you and Nabil were  her world, her security, love, reassurance, everything. The loss is so hard precisely because the bond was so very special. But the love you shared will always be with you. Such things never leave us.

Sending love and strength at this hardest of times. You and Nabil are in my thoughts.

I know nothing is any "better" and your grief  only deepens  at first.  You feelmlike you're  going crazy with a seemingly  never ending sadness.

Martha (Oaktown Pack) shared this poem with me  when my Happy Hannah went to the Bridge

Oh, and I wanted to add that, when I took that picture of the candle for Jack, many of your tripawd family who met Jack last Spring were here  with me for a visit.  At  first rhey wanted to take a picture with all of us in it to show our love and support.  I had to remind them that DC Jack liked her space and would not want a crowd intruding on her light💖💖💖💖💖  What a special  gal!

I am so very sorry to read this post this morning! Please know that my heart goes out to you and know that we all feel your loss! There is no way for us to take away your pain, but please know that all of our Spirit furbabies are surrounding Jack with their joy and their love!

Jack will ALWAYS BE CLOSE!! She will always be with you, especially when you whisper her name! You went to the moon and back for her and you know that she will be eternally grateful for the extra time that she got to spend with you in this physical world! Your love for her was intense and I can tell by looking at Clare’s picture that she posted, that the feeling was truly mutual! This will never change! You will always love each this THIS MUCH!!!

Take care of yourselves in this time of grief and know that what you’re feeling is nothing but intense love for your girl!

All the very best

Petra, Paul, Stewie and his Kittens

The poem didn't  copy...trying again.

Yeah, tne picture Clare posted says all that needs to be said about the bond you shared.  And I remember  how so attentive was Nabil was with Jack as ypu got to wander around a bit  and "socialize".  Jaaxk wa soooo content ro be with her hoomas.  She absolutely  showed that she felt secure and really didn't  care too much about anything  going on around her.  ❤

Things to do after your dog has died

Sweep the floor

Look out the window

Pant

Make a cup of tea and some toast

But then not eat them

Change the sheets on the bed

Try to sing

Start to cry

Forget what day it is

Stumble into a corner of the floor and hold your knees tightly

Keen

Pull yourself together

Make another cup of tea and this time drink it

Look out a different window

Stare at that spot on the floor where your dog used to stretch out, languid and happy, his paws twitching as he raced across sleep meadows and into dream ravines filled with moss and ferns and the scent of foxes

Look for the Kleenex

Use toilet paper instead

Wander around the house, your heart like a damned anvil in your chest

Heat up leftovers

Push them around the plate before leaving the entire thing in the sink

Look for what is not there

Hear things

Feel the forgotten fur beneath your fingertips

Feel the forgetting begin

Hold a memory, any memory, bright and shining, soft and sad, smelling of wet fur and leaves, with a whisker there and muddy paw prints left on the stairs, of a walk of a hike of a trip to the park with a treat and a bone and a belly rub snacks stolen off the counter and tug of war and the squeaky toy a glance of complicity in play with your hand on head with tail wagging and breath misting in the morning light or the moon over the trees while an owl croons ears are pricked and nose to the ground sniffing, sniffing, sniffing following the invisible trail to its joyful finding

Put on your pajamas

Turn around three times before you curl up by the rope toy and find yourself chasing the echo of a bark into a night that will never end

Grow a tail

I am so sorry to hear Jack earned her wings ... it was so lovely to meet you last spring in VA. That photo Clare posted speaks volumes! She was so connected to you - her human - her caregiver!

I know nothing I can say now takes the pain away but know we are all here for you. Jack lived her best life with you and she will forever be your angel and watch over you ... as she makes new friends over the bridge.

Hugs and love,

alison with spirit shelby in her heart (and little jasper too)

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
