Awww, little baby. Looking at that face and those eyes you just want to bundle her up in a blanket and cuddle her. I hope today is a better day for you and your miss Elsie Pie.

Hugs for all with kitty cat cuddles from Mona.

Oh Clare I'm certain that dogs can react differently at different times in their lives.  Our Max screamed I mean screamed all the way home  when we picked him up the next day after amp.  Longest 1 1/2 hour ride of my entire life. He didn't settle till like 3 days after that and be able to get some real deep sleep.  Very vocal!  I would indeed find out what was given and make sure she never receives it again.  Isn't it hard after once going through the cancer journey ( your sweet Billie) how our minds go back and we always begin to go there again?  The Pie is fine she just had a bad reaction to the opioids or whatever she was given and will get better day by day as it works out of her system.  Even us humans can have different reactions as we age.  Give that sweetie a hug and kiss from us all and hoping today she's back to her "Pie" self.  Love and hugs to you all!

You have noooooo idea how relieved I am, we all are, to hear Elsie Pie is shaking those meds off slowly but surely!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 Sooooooo relieved!! 🙂

I really doubt that this is anything other than a bad reaction to "something" in that cocktail they gave her. I would definitely find out exactly what she had. In addition, there is still the recovery from the tooth removal itself, the antibiotics, etc.

I've gotten very, very leery of anesthesia now. I was owned by a dog named Bernie who went under fairly "mild" anesthesia for stitches on a bad cut on his muzzle. He was at the Vets for over 24 hrs because they could not wake him up!!! Thankfully he finally came around and I can't remember how long it took him to shake it all off. And ues, he had anesthesia before with no issues!! UGH! I've heard too many horror stories even with "simple" lroceedures like tooth removals.

It just makes you second wuess what is "different". Was the dosage off a vit? Was everything administered properly? Was the anesthesia something different than the norm? Was the opioid injection the culprit? Too much? Questions we'll probably never have an answer.

Okay Miss Elsie Pie! You've done an EXCELLENT job of making sure YOU were getting more attention than Meg! Brilliantly done! Meg? Meg who? You made your point so let's not do that anymore okay?

Now, milk this for all it's worth and hold our for yummy junk food only! 🙂 🙂

Lots and lots of love to all!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Linda! That was the same experience I had with my Happy Hannah too! Yep, 1 1/2 hours of screeeeaming! It was just myself and our little buddy Bodie. Bodie would join in yapping his little dog bark..yeah....a looooong ride 🙂

I would also like to weigh in on changes as time goes on .... Shelby had THREE surgeries in a matter of months and always had tramadol as her painkiller with no reactions UNTIL the last surgery - her amputation. I don't know if it was the dose (however I suspect they were the same for the painkillers for her spleen and broken leg repair) but she was relentless in her moaning and whining and pacing. So confused. So terrifying for the both of us and like I said, we'd never had a bad reaction to tramadol before. We got her on some doggy valium and it evened her out.

My point is that Elsie Pie probably just had an unusual cocktail in her system and it's related to that and nothing else. I know the fear and worries and the memories of the past can creep in but push them out!!! Snuggle on her (I do love her sweet face) ... and hope you get some rest!

What a great friend to come and sit w/her so she wasn't alone.

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. Geeze Clare!  I'm just catching up, sorry about all the commotion!

I think tolerance to meds can change over time.  When she was young Maggie tolerated tramadol pretty well, late in life when I gave her one she was awake and agitated for 12 hours (as were we all!).  I've had meds too that I could take when I was younger that I no longer can have, seems it would be the same for dogs.

I can't get enough of that Elsie Pie face!

Thank you, everyone, for your input and support, for sharing your experience, and for just being so lovely. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. Truly.

Well, the news is that as of today Pie is back at 100% pure Pie. In fact, I'd say she's a little over, stuffed full to bursting with the joy of being Pie. This morning, on the Heath, she just couldn't stop rolling, she'd run a few steps and roll over again, like a capsized black beetle, and singing too, Woo-woo, woo-woo, woo-woo, woo!, then run a bit more, then roll some more. Whether it's the fact she's worked through the meds and is finally feeling more herself, or relief that the painful tooth has gone, who knows, who cares, my Pie is a joy-filled Pie.

She did indeed go back for a check up today, and the vet is very pleased with how her mouth is healing. She doesn't even need to stick to soft foods any more. I checked on the opioids and it turns out they gave her Methadone. METHADONE??? JUNKIE PIE!!! The MegaStar sticks to CBD oil. Trust Else to go straight for the hard stuff. Well never again. The Pie is staying clean.

Thanks again for your wonderful support. Honestly I could just hug you all.

Sending love,

Meg, Clare and Elsie Pie xxx

THRILLED to here the "pie" is back!  As you can see we all were getting a bit concerned.  Methadone!!?   Well no wonder the Pie was crying!  OMD!  What were they thinking?  Truly glad those tough few days are behind you!  Poor thing had to come down " cold turkey".  😳  Miss Pie, Meg may be a star whom we all love but you are one tough as nails and thankfully sober piece of our hearts.  Thanks for the update Clare and you will be able to hug us in person shortly 😉  Well some of us anyway.  Whew now I can relax this weekend.

Methadone?!? Is that like Meth? Like what the random RVs parked all over the streets in our neighborhood are cooking up ala "breaking bad"? Holy drugs batman! That's insane that they would give that to a dog! No wonder she was out of it ... totally a junkie on a bender!

I'm so glad she's back to being herself and all better! XO
