In keeping with Christine's holiday wish:

we will (fill) our blogs and forum threads with funny stories

I wanted to share a recent experience with quad pug boy Obie. For the first time in recorded history one of my pugs had a medical emergency 5 minutes before a scheduled vet appointment instead of on a weekend or holiday or the middle of the night (no, not the funny part).  Obie has some issues from his original owner including some OCD licking behaviors (not funny either).  As I went to put his harness on he was licking a little faster than normal and it seemed like something in his mouth was bothering him. When we got to the vet he was drooling, panting and getting more agitated by the second (no laughing yet).  As soon as the tech saw him she went and grabbed the vet.  We decided he was having an allergic reaction to something and they gave him a shot of benadryl, but he had got himself so worked up we couldn't calm him down.  So my vet gave him a tiny amount of Ace, she emphasized the minuscule amount she was giving him.  After some tests and a through exam nothing out of normal was found- no swelling, no bumps, all his vitals were normal.  We never figured out what he reacted to, but he does have his tongue sticking out all the time and we had just come back from a walk to the park (funny coming next).

He was quite the mellow, groovy boy when we left the vet around 10 in the morning, and yes it was pretty funny. He spent much of the day sleeping, when he was awake he was moving so slowly I thought he might fall over. He got his dinner at 5 PM and I have never seen him eat so slow!  WITH a slow feed bowl he gets his meal down in a couple minutes normally.  It took him over 10 minutes to eat his dinner that night! My vet called about 6 PM to find out how he was doing.  I told her that he had not had any further issues but that he was still feeling quite groovy. The original plan was to give him another tiny dose of ACE before bed but we decided that he didn't need to go any slower big-grin

My dad went out that night so Obie was sitting with me and Elly an hour after dinner, so 8 hours after he got he Ace.  He was still a very groovy pug!

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!
