Hi we have not been on here in a few years. In 2016 my daughter, Kacy, and her beautiful Ruby went thru a hind leg  amputation with an incision that turned nasty and then had to be debrided. We posted some pics back then and I will try to do so again. But I thought of this community tonight as Ruby now 12, fell ill last week and is  in the process of being euthanized this evening. This forum saved our lives at the time of our surgery.  There are so many kind people on here that helped us and we updated on her progress for awhile and answered questions for others for awhile. I am not sure why I decided tonight when I am grieving so much to return here to post of her passing, but it just seems like the right thing to do. Ruby is a “heart” dog for sure. Kacy got her the first year she left home fr Florida to attend college on Colorado. She was her “ride or die” literally during the next decade which saw her transition from a high school 18 year old to a young adult out in the working world. I just don’t know what we will do without her as it seems like we have never not had her in our lives. That’s the kind of great love that Ruby was. As a neat 60 year old who has had many animals I have learned that we love them all, but know that there are only one or two that are true soul mates. Ruby was this special of a dog. She will be missed, and we do realize how lucky we were to get another 4.5 years with her after the surgery. Please think of my Kacy as we all learn to live without her.

our old posts are by Kacy Grady, Ruby’s gram, rubysgramma. ( we had issues signing in some times)

Kacy and Ruby's gramma, we are deeply sorry to get this news, our condolences and hugs are going out to your family. When it comes time to help our fur kids transition, it's the hardest thing we can ever do. Thank you for taking time to come here and let us know, it's not easy to put in words when your heart hurts so much.

It's been a long time since we chatted but we could never forget your sweet girl. She was always so hoppy! We remember Ruby so well, she was such a champ during a tough recovery. When we don't hear from a member for a while, we always like to assume no news is good news. What a gift to know that in her case, it was!

She got to live her best life on three legs and show the world that Tripawds are just as happy as any other dog. What a gift! You all made a difference in the world and people's perceptions of a "handicapped" dog. Thank you for that, and thank you for being part of our community, then and always.

For new folks, here is Ruby's Tripawd Journey blog. What a sweetie. She is missed but never forgotten.

Thanks everyone. Kacy has been on today looking back which had been a great way to just rest after the trauma of yesterday. She sent me the link to some of the older posts and it did my heart good to see her so Hoppy after her surgery. We both think now that Ruby has been sick, probably w Kidney disease for maybe as much as two years. Here are some of the other posts. -as I said I think somehow we ended up w multiple user names.

Gramma Lisa, we are absolutely keeping all of you in our thoughts. I'm glad Ruby's blog could bring Kacy some comfort. You guys did so great with Ruby, through the ruff times and beyond. Cherish her happy times, your smiles are her legacy.

While I am sorry to hear that Ruby had to leave you both, I am glad you came her to share the news so we can join in your mourning. She was special - and connecting with your family at that tough time is what this group is about. This community is built on shared experience - the joyful ones and the tough ones.

Wishing Ruby the sweetest dreams of her happy and hoppy life.  Wishing Gramma Lisa and Kacy comfort in the memories of a wonderful girl who had 4.5 years of bonus time. I know you all made the most of it.

On October 27, 2016, nearly 6 months after amputation, and 18 months since his cancer likely started, we lost Pofi to a recurrence of Soft Tissue Sarcoma in his spine quite suddenly.  His canine sister also succumbed to cancer on March 1, 2019 - we lavished her with our love in the interim, but life was never quite the same without her only real canine friend. Cliff kitty had to leave us, too, suddenly, in August 2019. Lucia kitty grieved all these losses, but helped us welcome two new Lurchers into our home and our lives, Shae and Barley.

I am sooooo glad to jave the link to the amazing  Riby's blog!!  I cannot believe  I missed some of her posts and AND Zpictures!!!  OMD!!!  Those pictures really, really, really to show how adored and loved she is AND how extremely  Happy!!!

As I was writing my first response to you and Kacy when you let is know she headed to the Bridge, I immediately  thought of the picture of her jn the wagon.

And when I jist now went back and revisited her "family album of love for Ruby", I saw that picture!  I rem jownhappy I was back then that Kacy and Ruby were getting  outside....and Ruby LOVED her wagon!!

These pictures truly chronicled how Ruby had the best life evvvver....with four legs and three!!!

I know I said it before, but she will continue to inspite and touch lives.  It is sich a priv to know Riby and the hoomans she loves.....and the hoomans who love here....including us!♥️.
