We call her Dani most of the time.  She has been a comfort for us.  We met her a few weeks ago, then fostered her for a bit just to make sure she fit in with us.  We officially adopted her last Saturday.  She and Maggie get along well, with Maggie doing a good job of "redirecting" Dani when she is out of line.  Dani adores Maggie, often to Maggie's annoyance.  She is 3 years old, another retired racing greyhound.  Her last day of work was 10/22 in Daytona Beach, so she has done really well with the culture and climate change.

We all still hurt too much here, but it's felt good to have Dani join our family.

Fallon's left front leg was amputated due to osteosarcoma on 10/11/17.

Welcome to the best home a doggy could evvver have!!!!😚😊  I have a few happy tears flowing over here!😂

Dani is absolutely  gorgeous!  And the Greyhound Roach.perfect!!

I know you still miss Fallon and your heart still hurts.  And I also know  there is enough room in your heart to let Dani find her own place with you.   No dog ever "replaces" another.  Each dog is loved for all the wonderful traits that make them so unique and so special .  I can't  wait to hear how Dani's personality  flourishes in this beautiful  furever home with her beautiful hoomans and sweet Maggie.  She looks like she's ready to be the dog she was born to be!!

Giving Dani a chance to know joy and love is such a beautiful  way to pay tribute to Fallon. ❤  Of course, Fallon picked Dani for you and is quite pleased with her selection!  She knew Maggie needed a "project".

Can't  wait to follow her adventures, and with pictures of course!

Dani is lovely and she clearly knows she is at home, already roaching.  I know your hearts still ache, but it is an honor to Fallon's memory that you have opened your home to a retiring racer.  I know she will give Maggie companionship (if sometimes TOO much) and bring joy to your lives.

On October 27, 2016, nearly 6 months after amputation, and 18 months since his cancer likely started, we lost Pofi to a recurrence of Soft Tissue Sarcoma in his spine quite suddenly.  His canine sister also succumbed to cancer on March 1, 2019 - we lavished her with our love in the interim, but life was never quite the same without her only real canine friend. Cliff kitty had to leave us, too, suddenly, in August 2019. Lucia kitty grieved all these losses, but helped us welcome two new Lurchers into our home and our lives, Shae and Barley.

Awe, Dawn, she's beautiful! So glad she found her way to you - via Fallon, of course. I get how your heart still hurts - mine does too, for my heart dog Nitro; the dueling Terrors help with that, but still......Can't wait to see how this all unfolds for you - congrats

Paula and Warrior Angel Nitro

Nitro 11 1/2  yr old Doberman; right front amp June 2014. Had 6 doses carboplatin, followed by metronomic therapy. Rocked it on 3 legs for over 3 years! My Warrior beat cancer, but couldn't beat old age. He crossed the Bridge peacefully on July 25, 2017, with dignity and on his terms.  Follow his blog entitled "Doberman's journey"

Oh wow Dawn, I have tears in my eyes … Dani is beautiful! Dani girl you have no idea how lucky you are heart

It is obvious that your hearts, no matter how much they are still hurting, have so much love in them and Fallon knew that you had to have another to share that with. I am giggling over Maggie showing her the ropes and putting up with Dani's new love and companionship.

I cannot wait to see more pictures! Wishing you many happy healthy years together. She will never replace Fallon, that will always be a special place that belongs to only her. But you did a beautiful thing saving another precious life and I know Fallon is smiling from the clouds above. heart

Lots of love,

Thank you all so much for your kind words and welcomes to our new little girl.  I am waiting for a message from Fallon that this is right--although Dani's not leaving.  I know Fallon would approve, I am just insecure, I guess.

When we adopted Maggie, we had recently lost our Willow.  Paul and I were devastated, as was Fallon--but Paul and I kept on going, while Fallon struggled on--she didn't want to be alone, she would rush the door trying to leave with us, she was whiny, she just wasn't herself.  We knew as not ready as we were, Fallon was more than ready for a sibling.  We test drove Maggie for a week, and it was a good match for our Family, and Fallon loved her, so I thought we were set.  Then, one day about 5 months after Willow died, I saw a giant gray feather, about a foot long,  on our driveway.  We live in suburban Albany, NY, so it was really out of place.  Right away I knew it was a sign from Willow that all was well with her--I'd had none yet--but it was even more.  I brought the feather in to show Paul, and saw that this feather was *exactly* Maggie's color--you could not even see it if I laid it on her back.  So Willow was saying Maggie was the one.  I was thrilled to find out.

I am hoping Fallon tells us somehow also.

Meanwhile, things are going pretty well here.  Dani *ADORES* Maggie, and Maggie does not bite her--she's never been openly demonstrative.  Dani is more like Fallon--in your face love.  But it's clear Maggie likes Dani, and they have a lot of fun running and playing together, and we've been catching up on some epic walks I didn't realize how much we missed over the past year.

Oh my dog they are BFFs already! Wow! I'm seeing two very happy doggies there and have no doubt that one of these days, Fallon will leave you a sign when you least expect it. She may be a bit more elusive about it than Willow was (what a great story! did you keep the feather?) but I'm sure it will happen. We look forward to the big day 🙂

WOW!  Chills when reading  the feather sign!!   Willow certainly  knew how to make sure she got your attention so you knew with absolute  certainty dhr picked Maggie for you!!❤

While you're  waiting for a "hit- you- over- the -head" sign, the picture of Maggie and Dani together subtly  speaks volumes!

Loving these pictures......keep em coming!!

Welcome to the family Dani!

Sometimes you have to wait awhile for a sign or to know the match is right or that there is purpose.  I adopted Obie just a few weeks after TriPug Maggie crossed and while we did fine it wasn't until several years later that his purpose in our pack was clear.

And Maggie sent me a sign after I adopted Elly.  I was actually thinking it wasn't going to work- but Mag set me straight!

I love that they are sleeping on each other already- must be a good match!
