Losing our Zeus broke us for a little while.  With time, our hearts have (mostly) healed and we decided it was time.  Not the best of pictures, but they just wouldn't stay still!!!  Introducing.... Tillman (blond) and Riggs (brown):

Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11.  A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

Happy Holidays,

Alison with the Spirit of Shelby fur-ever in her heart (and little Jasper too)

Shelby Lynne; Jack Russell/Shiba Inu mix. Proud member of the April Angels of 2014.

October 15, 2000 to April 8, 2014

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Lisa-

Congrats on the new additions. Tillman and Riggs have scored the best parents any pup could hope to have.

LIIIIIIIIISSSSSSSAAAAAA!!!! You forgot the cuteness alert!!! And you forgot the happiness alert.....and the adorable alert.....and the precios alert....and the "Zeus did a good job applause sign!"

Oh Losa Riggs and Tilman are just off the charts cute!!! And I agree with everyone, love the names!!

PLEASE tell us more when you can! How did this all come about??? How did you end up with TWO? Were they already friends? Can't tell, butthey actually look related, Riggs looking a bit bigger than Tilman.

I think Zeus knew it would take a lot of dog to help you continue to heal......too much pressure for just one, so he sent you two!!

I know these two made your Christmas outrageously fun!!
Yep, two more dogs just won the doggy lottery!!

Sending so much love! Can't stop smiling!!!!!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Lisa,

Congrats.  I can't wait to hear about the double trouble the brothers will get into.  Knowing how Snickers & Jazz act all crazy I am sure you will have your hands full too.  They are so cute.

So adorable -- times two! Very happy for you guys! :-)

Deb and Angel Lexie* Diagnosed at age 13. Tried radiation first; wish we had amputated upon diagnosis (even with lung mets). Joined Club Tripawd April 2014 & Lexie loved life on 3 legs! Advice: Start physical therapy as soon as your vet clears it, especially hydrotherapy if available :-) See Lexie pics here.

Thank you everyone!  Yes, Sally, they are brothers.  Zeus and Merlin were littermates and it was perfect that they grew up together.  It does pose challenges have two pups at once, but it is SO worth it in the long run.  We adopted them from the shelter, of course.  Mama and both boys were surrendered and mom had an application, so we took the two boys.  It was nice getting to meet the mom and see her size and personality, though.  Best we can tell is maybe lab/golden/hound.  The boys' feet are HUGE and they are about 30 lbs at 4 months old so we think they will be bigger boys.

For what it is worth I'm pretty sure that Zeus and Merlin sent these dogs directly to us... and they are now up there laughing up a storm.  These two are so very much like our last boys.  I really haven't tried to compare them because I really don't want them to be the same.  But some things cannot be ignored and there are some really quirky similarities.

Last, we are HUGE Clemson fans, so the names hail from Clemson history.  Oh my, time to go walk the dogs.  big-grin

Bob swears Trouble sent Emmi to us (more likely him, as I wasn't ready to take on another dog). And yes, she has that same hard headedness about her, and occasionally we will see a glimpse of Trouble in her, but truly she is not the same. But I have no doubt Trouble had a hand in her coming to us. She was truly a neglected pup in a horrible situation, so being able to now be a princess is a good thing - regardless of how annoying she may sometime be! winker
