Tonight, a picture on our mantel of our tripawd Lili, and her brother Peter, caught my eye, and I thought about how long it has been since I checked in here.  I think of Lili every day, and even though she was a tripawd only a few short months (amputation in March 2013, and the mets in her spine and remaining back leg appeared in July 2013 and we had to let her go), this community was invaluable in helping me through that tough time.  I wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing!  So thrilled to see this new forum.  What a great idea.

We are one of those families that immediately filled the enormous void left by our tripawd Lili by adopting a new dog shortly thereafter.  We have a soft spot for those shaggy terrier mutts.  Rose joined us just a few weeks after Lili left us.  I see so much of Lili in her that I am convinced they are related somehow.  smiley  She is such a joy and helped ease the pain during a really tough time.

Some of y'all may remember the photo shoot we had done in the small window after Lili's amputation.  SO glad we did that as we cherish those pictures.  We love our talented photographer and are just thrilled that some of her photos have ended up being used commercially.  First, our newest (post-Lili) addition Rose really shocked us all by being a fabulous bed model during a later photo shoot at our house.  (PS: these beds are incredible for anyone who is looking for one!).  Without further ado, Rose, our shaggy black and white terrier, about 5 months after being rescued from the pound (we ignore the part where she is called he!):

Even better, I recently learned that a photo from our original photo shoot with Lili has been featured in a book (called "Really Important Stuff My Dog Has Taught Me - haven't received a hard copy yet but it's on my Christmas list and well-reviewed on Amazon!)  You can't tell from the photo that Miss Lili was a tripawd at the time, but I still love the photo.  I love that people who are out there buying the book will see Lili while flipping through...and her spirit lives on.  Our dogs are on the right hand page.  Peter is our quad-pawd (still going strong at 11 years old, though often exasperated by his new bratty little sister), and Miss Lili is on the far right.

Anyway, that's all the news from our pack.  I'll try to be better about checking in, and I hope you and your dogs are all doing great.

Ann, it's great to see you here again! Congratulations on Rose, if she is anything like Lily then she is an absolutely fun sweetie. You know I'm always convinced that our angel dogs send us our next pack mates for very good reasons. Seems like Rose has definitely helped ease your broken heart and become quite a celebrity just as Lili and Peter! I'm also glad to hear that Peter is doing so well. Looks like your pack's modeling careers are just taking off, how fun!

Those West Paw Beds look great, I'm going to mention those in our Amazon blog , as well as the book (Really Important Stuff My Dog Has Taught Me)

Folks, the photo shoot that Ann is referring to is here, you should really check out these fantastic photos and if you're ever in Atlanta, this photographer is THE one to go to.

Well, it really did make me smile to see you here and catch up, I'm glad you found the Forum, you can thank Angel Polly's Mom, Bonnie, for that wonderful idea! Don't be a stranger OK? Hoppy Howlidays!

Thanks for the kind words!  It really is a bonding experience, navigating tripawd-dom with this crew.  It was a tough time for sure, but strangely, I look back with fondness.  Lili taught us so much, and only wish that our time with her could have been longer.

Thanks for adding the links, too, Jerry.  I really do love the West Paw bed that we received in exchange for Rose's time and talent.  We have the Bumper Bed, but I think the "Tuckered Out" might be really good for a tripawd or an older dog, with its comfy sides and low profile entry.  We love that the covers (two on the bumper bed - one for the bolster part and one for the middle part) are completely washable.  And, made in the USA!

I can hardly wait to see the book in person.  I can't believe we have been blessed with such great mutts, three-legged and four.  big-grin

Hi, and I have to say , your new pup Rose is a doll !! I came to Tripawds not long after you lost your sweet Lili.....this place has been a real life-saver for many of us, and a big thanks goes to members like you that helped pave the way, and keep this community alive and well.

How incredibly awesome for both Lili and Rose's pics being used in publications, how proud that must make you feel !! I know my precious Angel Polly has her picture in one of the Tripawds calendars this coming year and I couldn't buy enough of them to give to my friends, family, and those that cared for her during her cancer battle !! I am just so excited and proud as well to see her beautiful face on the calendar page......!

Thank you so much for sharing all this news with us, and check back in with us whenever you get the chance. We all love hearing from veteran members and all that is new in your current furry friend's lives.

Love,

Bonnie & Angel Polly
