Oh man have we missed our Tripawds family!!! So many times while we were away, I thought, oh I have to share this w/Sally since she's not on the FB! 🙂
I am still working through the forums, checking in where I can (while getting back to work). It was a lovely and long break. Jasper did GREAT on the planes (as always - she's a great travel dog). I'll be sure to update her blog but I have to share a couple of highlights!
My mom has a friend who is a former naturalist who did some field work. And look what he found and saved from his work and shared with little Jasper Lily. She literally thought she had died and gone to heaven! Look at the size of those antlers!
Hiking in the Seattle Arboretum. It was FREEZING! Ice on the lake, 30 degrees and we could NOT be happier!
We LOVE nature!!! Jasper prefers the woods and forests to the beach. This park is a park that Shelby and I used to hike all the time when I lived up there in the early 2000s. Jasper also fell in love with the trails and personally, I loved the silence and getting lost in the woods... it was total zen and perfection.
Our thoughts on coming back to LA. 🙁
Jasper pre-flight. No, she doesn't get her own seat BUT she can sit on my lap if she wants but she really does prefer to be in her airline carrier all cozy and snuggly.
All in all ... despite the rain, the cold, the clear skies and lack of snow (bummer)... it was a GREAT trip home. I feel energized and ready to tackle 2016. I survived the first year without the love of my life and created many new adventures and experiences with my little sidekick. I know how blessed I am that she is a great travel buddy and loves to go with me. It broke my heart to leave her at home today after almost 2 straight weeks together but we are already planning our next adventures to the great PNW.
Happy New Year!!!!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
Wow Alison that is a good time! I wish we could have tagged along, that looks like a great trip. Welcome home!
P.S. How on earth did you get that antler through airport security?! Insane!!!!

Wow looks like you guys had an awesome visit! Love all the adorable pictures of that happy Jasper all decked out in her beautiful sweaters. Love the video with the antlers. She sure was a lucky girl to have those. I love seeing her blossom under your cone of love and Shelbys spirit presence. I think you two rescued each other 😀

LOL! The antler was only a loaner, sadly. She got to work on it while we were watching the Seahawks game and then it was back to storage! But it would have been funny to try and get that thru security!

That is so funny! I was wondering if you got to bring it home. Then I thought of all the commotion it would cause at the airport. LOL You and Jasper look so happy and relaxed. So glad you had a good time. Love all of JL's outerwear. Lori, Ty and gang
TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.
Sounds like a great trip again. So when you moving 😉 Love the look on JL face on the plane home.
Wish you could have gotten that thing through security although they might have considered it a weapon LOL.

Haha OK now I get it. Pretty neat toy to keep her occupied in the meantime.

WELCOME HOME ALISON AND JASPER LILY...AND SHELBY TOO! Yiu were missed!
THANK YOU for posting poctures here. I would really been bummed to have missed them!
Hones to goodness, I think Jasper Lily has learned how to "pose" for the camera! Ahe gives just the right look for her close ups. For the more panoramic shots, she stands so proud and tall (okay, maybe not exactly "tall")! I lpve the going back to LA caption with that picture. PERFECT!
I would love to see a photo of all ner sweaters, vests and scarves one day. This dog needs her own walk in closet!
I LOVE the fact that she gets to sit in a seat on the airplane!! Bwing a "service dog" has its advantages!
OMD!!! That antler! Jasper Lily is ADORABLE with it!! It just wars my heart soooo much to see how happy and content she is. She clearly feels secure and confident with her Madre! She really has turned into quite a good little travel companion. It's so comforting to know you two have each other's companionship when traveling, and just in the day to day routine of living life, always guided by Shelby's paw.
Get some rest. You have a lotmof catching up to do and, hopefully, more vacation pictures to post
Much love!!
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
