So, as I have already told you all, Daryl is in love with my hubby. He goes in the car with him every chance he gets. So today, my husband had come home and let him out of the car. I did not realize they were home. Hubby comes in and says , go get Daryl, he ran down to the barn. His electric collar was off due to going away. So onto the 4 wheeler I go and no Daryl. It usually just takes starting it up for him or Lucy. I drove all over our farm, including along the road, my worst fear. (our neighbor dog was hit last year.) Back to the house, no Daryl. Back down around the farm, no Daryl. I am hyperventilating by this time. I cannot even begin to know where to look. I decide to go back up to the house just to make sure and there stands my husband with ...you guessed it, Daryl. He had jumped back inside my hubby's car. Just sitting there pretty as you please while Mom is having a panic attack. Fortunately, it is only about 60 degrees today, but this is a fair warning for next summer. I had a cat once that would get into the car. I would go to go somewhere and there he would be. He even got into a repairmans truck once. Oh the fun!!!!!!!Lori and Ty Chan, Lucy and Daryl too

Oh, Sally, better yet would be a video. He does not lay down so he resembles a drunken sailor riding in the car. Sort of hard to balance with one front leg.laughing yeah, his thought bubble had to be good. Poor thing, the doors were shut so he couldn't jump out.

I think that thought bubble says, "Gotcha!"

Many years ago we had a cat named George.  He rode to the dump one day in the back of the pickup full of old fencing.  We didn't find out about it until the next day when the kid who had been clearing out the fence told us that George had gone to the dump.  I told him he must be mistaken because George was right there at home.  He said that he saw George jump out of the truck when they got to the dump and called  "here kitty, kitty", and George jumped back in the truck and rode home.

Kathi and Murphy

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

Oh Daryl....you should not be playing tricks on your mommy and making her worry!!!

These young pups need eyes on them constantly because of the mischief they find themselves in.  It's not funny in the moment but looking back I'm sure you and hubby can have a chuckle.  I know me and my husband just shake our heads and laugh at some of Lucian's antics.

I think Daryl feels safe in the truck, and it is also maybe another way to be close to your hubby.....I would love to know what goes on in the minds of our fur kids......!! It's funny about how Daryl rides in a vehicle, my Polly did the same thing....she wanted to stand the whole time we took her anywhere, and trying to balance on her only front leg made me nervous. I would usually sit in the back with her and make her lay down, so she wouldn't fall and hurt herself.....I was a nervous mom I guess.....

So glad he is safe, and he must be pretty settled and happy with you and your husband, he didn't try to go anywhere.....

OMG ... those pups do like to give us mini heart attacks early on, right? Remember when Jasper took off down the street?! I had a heart attack and then another!

So glad Daryl is safe and sound...he knows where his home is and where  the love is!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Daryl you sneaky pup you!! This made me laugh so much b/c you KNOW Ty is rolling around hysterically laughing about it too. *Sigh*, its comforting to know I'm not the only one with a mischievous, crazy, 2 yr old tripawd. I think I have gray hairs with Tanner's name on them and I bet you just grew one with Daryl's name on it! hehe

Daryl Daryl Daryl.  Don't be giving mommy a heart attack.  At least it was cool and someone found him.  I would have been panicked.  I know how I was when Snickers & Jazz got loose.  I was freaking out.  Running around crying.  Driving down the road screaming for them.

I am so glad everything turned out ok

YIkes! What a jokester!

About balancing on three legs in the car..it's a great workout for core-strengthening, so the more car rides the better. And of course I'm sure Daryl agrees ;)

Simple solution- teach Daryl how to honk the horn! That way while Hubby is in town Daryl can honk if he takes to long in a store, and if he gets closed in the truck again he can let you know where he is! Sort of a self rescue tactic.

Maggie used to ride in the back of my little SUV standing with her front legs on the rear door arm rest and look out the window (I had the back seats folded down so the pugs had the whole back).  After her rear amp she couldn't do it anymore, or so I thought.  A few months after her amp I was stopped at a stoplight and when I glanced in the rear-view mirror I could see Mag's head.  I turned around and she had her front paws on the arm rest, looking out the window and was balancing on the one back leg. I felt soooo proud of her which lasted about 5 seconds until the light turned green- I was in the left turn lane! I went as slow as I could but the inevitable happened- she barrel rolled across the back of the SUV.  I was laughing so hard I had to pull over (of course to check if she was OK too).  That was the one and only time Mag tried that.  She decided standing with her front paws on the center consul, her one back foot in the back and the two front seats on either side of her was a better place to ride!

I'm glad you were able to get a little aerobic work out without any harm coming to Daryl.
