Hey Everybody! I hope you're all well and happy. I've been thinking about you a lot this week, as it has been the run-up to Dakota's 4th ampuversary. As one of the February Furballs, Dakota was in excellent company. Who's still here from that group? We think only Bud the Well Behaved, our good friend from Wyoming. Bud is also celebrating and I hope he's getting whatever the hell he wants, as he deserves it. Bud is a Very Good Dog.

For those who came after Dakota (who's been gone for 2 years and who did not have OSA), this is what you need to know about him: He was truly rescued in the nick of time; he had issues, lots and lots of issues; he was sweet as could be and needier than any psycho date you've ever had; he was passive-aggressive; he was the consummate thief. He had personality. Read what it says under his avatar. That's what you need to know.

Please enjoy something special to celebrate Dakota's life and our membership here, a place where I met people who can only be described as extraordinary. People who are fun, funny, entertaining, kindhearted, empathetic and selfless. If you want to celebrate exactly the way Dakota would have, it won't matter what the treat is, as long as you steal it from someone when their back is turned and then run like hell.

(The stair picture, as many of you know, is very special. It's his life, summed up in a photo. There's my good boy, always waiting for us to come home. Never forgetting, always on duty. What a good boy.)

From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.

Happy Ampuversary Dakota.  I know you are well missed buddy.  I hope you are stealing lots & lots of treats up at the bridge.  Today we will celebrate you.  (The girls have no problem with trying to steal a treat lol).

I love Dakota's story.  Shari & Dakota are a good support system.  She helped keep me calm many a times.  I have had the pleasure of meeting her & spending the weekend showing her around my town.

Hugs to you Shari.

Oh I just love seeing Dakota's pictures.........I know you talk about all his issues...but he just always looks so happy....so loved....I never got to know him...but I feel like I did just because you and Dakota just go together.

Thank you Dakota, for bringing your mom into our lives.  Without her, at least for me, I would have been lost.

Extra treats for Jill today for Dakota's ampuversary!!!!!

Jill is a 9-year-old tuxedo kitty. She was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in June 2012 on her toe in her right hind leg. Her leg was amputated on 12/12/12 and she completed four rounds of chemo (2 of Carbo, 2 of Doxy) in April 2013. Love, Love, Love seeing D-Dawg's pictures.   All tripawds are special, but there are always the ones who work their way into the heart and plant a firm pawprint, never to be forgotten.  D-Dawg is definitely one of those for me.

Happy Ampuversary at the Bridge, beautiful boy.  You will live forever in the hearts of those who celebrated your journey along with you, and you will always be a warrior prince for those who come behind you.

Thank you Shari, for sharing this bittersweet day with us.

So glad you posted and shared some more delightful memories AND poctures!!

I love going back and reading Dakota's blogs...and Evelyn's too! Everytime I learn something new about Dakota and everytime I understand the depth of your bond even more. Yes, you were his Grasshopper and he relished in the role of being teacher.

You can see the mischief in his eyes...the little gleem that makes you think he's planningnhis next caper...the little gleam that says he's one smart doggy!!

The picture of him waiting for your homecoming on the stairs, ..yeah, a couple of tears flowing on that one. And then I think about his splendid personality, his passive agressive antics and the fact that he owned your heart and that tickles him to no end!!

Okay, I'm gonna go pick out my treats tonight to honor Dakota's Four Year Ampuversary!!

My Happy Hannah's amputation was February 19th...but 2013. Still, a connection to Dakota Dawg!!

Love and light to you, Evelyn, George and DAKOTA DAWG!!!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

I remember the stair photo!  One of my favorites!  As was Mr. Dakota Dawg!  He was a very special boy!  Now, as soon as my good husband gets back home and sits down to relax with a Girl Scout cookie, I plan on diverting his attention and then stealing and eating the cookie myself.  I think Dakota would approve and be quite proud!!  little-devil

Happy Ampuversary Dakota Dog!!!  I have no doubt you are having a blast up there at the Bridge with all your Tripawd brothers and sisters.  My Leland was a thief as well...he loved stilling his mom and dad's clothing right out from under our noses.  I'm sure you and he have found all sorts of things to nab and have fun with.

Shari & Spirit Dakota, it's so hard to believe four years have gone by. That's one year for each leg, including the bonus one! It was an honor to have you join us from the start of your journey and we continued to be enlightened on so many levels by your spiritual presence. Thank you for sticking around to show us what living life on three legs can be at any age.

May there be lots of stolen treats this week from those we love! I hope you get a kick out of watching it happen!

With your happy face in our thoughts now and always, hoppy angelversary kiddo.

So, I tried that whole take my kid's piece of apple pie from her....she wasn't too happy about it. She thought it was kind of weird but I assured her that it was what Shari told me to do and what Dakota would like. That didn't seem to appease her?

Then I gave Bud and Daisy apple slices. Bud was a little slow after his acupuncture appointment so Daisy bested him and got all of the slices. I know Dakota would approve but I felt a little bad about is so Bud got his very own half of apple and I hand delivered it.

I know you know how we feel about your family and our pal Dakota.....

We love you guys, you are our family

Bud!! You honored Dakota Dawg perfectly!!! You are a very smart voy! You "let" Daisy get y our apple slices...yoj got your mom's sympathy ...as a result, you got more apple than Daisy!!!

Yep, a bond among "strangers" no one else could possibly understand...and we call each other family....because we are.

Shari,
What beautiful pictures of a gorgeous pup.....Trying to catch up with some forum posts here, and I had to add my celebratory thoughts to an amazing Tripawd.....I see Dakota Dawg's banner all the time, and love seeing that sweet face of his. Just knowing he had an awesome life with you, and a true success story with the "ugly c" are 2 of the many reasons to celebrate him. He will never, ever be forgotten here, for sure. Thank you for sharing him with us and these lovely pics of him.

Thinking of you and Dakota Dawg,
Love,
Bonnie & Angel Polly
