I was just told about this site on tripawd cats. I am currently sitting by my phone anxiously waiting to hear from the Vet that “Teka”, my rescue, came through a right front leg amputation in great shape. She is a rescue I picked up from some very nice people that found her under their porch. They could not continue to help this injured kitty as one of the couple has allergies. When I received the kitty, she was not in good health. She had a fractured front leg which had an abscess due to a laceration. We built up her strength so she could go through this surgery. She is approximately 6-8 months old and now weighs 4.7 pounds. I find some of the comments I’ve read to be helpful and encouraging. Thanks for this site.
Hi Teka and MaryAnn, welcome! Your future posts won't need to wait for approval so post away! I hope you've heard from the vet by now.
She is soooo lucky to find her way to you MaryAnn. I'm sorry she needed the surgery. At such a young age, she should do just great on three legs. I would consider building her a catio space eventually so she can have safe, outdoor access.
Also, have you seen our How to Help Your Three-Legged Cat book? That's full of helpful tips about life on three legs. And of course please ask any questions you'd like, we are here to help!
Oh be sure to check out our What to Expect articles to prepare you for her homecoming. Our Tripawds Recovery Shopping List is also a helpful resource.
Keep us posted!
Just wanted to add my welcome to you and Teka (cute name). That sweet kitten won the Kitty Lottery once she found her way to you.
Stay connected and let us know how things are going, okay? Go through Jerry's reading list and let is know if you have any questions.

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Thanks to all for the kind words and support. Teka has been home for 4 days and seems to be adjusting very well. I did buy her an enclosed play area so when the weather gets nicer and she gets better we can take her out on the porch and she can enjoy the outdoors and be protected. She goes for her first post op check up tomorrow. I’m anxious to get a report on her progress. Thanks again all.
I have no doubt she'll handle her check up with flying colors. Sounds like she's quite a little Warrior youngster with a lot of spunk. Clearly she is so adored by her hooman♥️

MaryAnn, our foster puppy had her left front amputated on April 20 so we're right here with you. While life will never be as easy on four legs as on three, these young ones can bounce back fast. I hope Teka is doing well.
That's Reece in the avatar, but I live with Shibas. I'm guessing that explains quite a bit.
