Here is a couple pics of Luna and her brother Ollie who is an orange tabby. They are littermates.
Can you refer me to an article, blog or forum topic that discusses spaces for recovering pets, especially cats? We are trying to decide on the best place in the house for Luna to rest and recover. Thank you! At the end of the post is another picture of Luna.
And just a reminder that Luna's surgery has been moved to Friday, March 8.

Thanks for updating the surgery date & sweet picture of Luna
Regarding the recovery area, we all do things a little differently. The main goal is restricting activity & movement and being able to access them easily for med time. We do not want anyone going under a bed!!!
Some members use dog crates or pop-up playpens. We used a spare room, gutted the room, put the mattress on the floor, and Purrkins chose the closet. I set up his little bed, made it comfy in there, and had the floor covered in foam exercise mat for any mishaps as Purrkins learned his new gait. Most cats want a safe hideaway to recover in. Cover part of the cage to provide that secure, cozy nook if you use a cage or pop-up tent.
You want to restrict activity for two weeks and avoid jumping up and down. The goal in recovery is healing from major surgery. The pain meds will help in this aspect, depending on what is sent home. If you have not asked ahead of time, please do. Know what you are being sent home with and the duration, and please advocate for Luna. Do not let them send her home with three days worth of pain medicine. It is NOT enough for this surgery. We get three days for minor procedures and dental, not for amputation surgery.
Will Luna be spending the night or coming home the same day? Is the hospital staffed 24/7?

Well now you have a few more days to prepare, that's great!
I can't find a specific post about a recovery space for cats, that discussion gets buried in other topics. But I think it would be good to start a specific discussion about recovery space ideas for cats! Thanks for thee inspiration. I started one here, so that in the future it will be easier for everyone to find. Be sure to subscribe to the topic to get notified when people post.
Holly's ideas are exactly what I was going to say. Some folks use recovery tents, others dog crates, or close off a room. It really depends on your cat's purrsonality and whether they are really social and need to be where you are all the time, or if they're the quiet type and would rather stay alone. Wherever you place the recovery space you want to keep them safe from high spots and getting stuck in furniture.
Terrific suggestions from Holly and Rene 👍
Just want to say the picture of Luna is adorable. She is sich a pretty gal.
Will be sending positive energy for a successful surgery and smooth recovery at home.
