Came back from the vet. Blood count fell from 27 to 24 but at least it's not dire. Good news is blood pressure was normal at 150.  Another good point is he was purring the whole time we were at the vet. Still feeding by syringe but he seems content. If he would only eat on his own.

Another good thing is I learned how to use the pill gun.

Also got anti nausea medication.

Awe, they are the best of brothers, aren't they? Give them both a kiss from us, please😻😻! I believe & hope the anti-nausea will help Jolie want to eat. I'm so happy you asked and received. (what did you get do you know?)

Excellent on NORMAL BP, 🙌🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻and I'm not sure about the blood count. Yes, I agree; thankfully, it's not dire! I assume another recheck is in one week?

Learning to use the pill gun is a blessing and will make it easier for you to ensure the meds get in. At first, purrkins was not a fan of it, but now he is used to it.; His brother was an ace at it and never minded from day one. We make a big to-do over med times - it's a good thing, lots of praise, love, celebration, and treats before and after.

I love your vet team & I KNOW they appreciate you and the care you give your boys.

I look forward to hearing that the anti-nausea are helping Jolie feel like eating.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

These pictures are just as cute as can be. Such a good looking crew and they clearly enjoy being with each other. Put a smile on my face.

The pill gun is such a great tool to know how to use! That's awesome you're mastering using one.

I hope he starts eating on his own too. It's a good sign that his behavior is so normal and he's starting to act like himself. Keep up the great work getting him fed.

I always leave some dry food in their bowls just in case. When I looked in the kitchen today Jolie was sitting in front of his bowl but I couldn't tell if he had been eating or not. So, still fed by syringe today...

Jolie probably  was eating.  Just guessing but why else would he  be sitting there?  Yep, a very high probability!!🤞

He sniffed 2 food bowls on his way back from peeing but didn't eat anything. I fed him by syringe and he ate 5  chicken food tubes and 4 hard snacks. He sat up today and groomed his stomach;before he got sick that was one of his favorite activities. He took his IV no problem.

Sniffing the food is a good sign but yes sounds like still nauseous. No vomiting?

Jolie acts like he wants to eat but isn't right? What anti-nausea did they send you home with? If you were sent home with Cerenia. I would ask for the Zofron to see if that helps. They both work entirely differently in the body. They can also add in an anti acid  like Pepcid AC.

He doesn't mind being syringed, right? My guys never did, which makes all the difference. See how the weekend goes and what the vet suggests on Monday. You might need to get a feeding tube placed. It depends on how much food you are successfully getting in. As I said before, I'm all in for syringe feeding to help our family get through.  Are you still on pain meds or not? Is he showing any pain signals ?

Sorry for the 50 questions;) trying to understand and help.

Hugs
chin/ear scratches to the boys, please.

I think  it's cerenia but they don't label here so I'll have to ask specifically on Monday. Thankfully there is no vomiting. He takes as much syringe food as I give so I'd rather not think about a feeding tube.

The anti nausea is mixed with appetite stimulant and blood cell stimulant in one packet in powder form. I transfer it to a capsule and administer with a pill gun.

I took him off pain killers on Tuesday. He seems comfortable without them. He sleeps soundly and body language is relaxed with no pain language.

My main worry is what his blood count will be on Monday...

I wonder why they do not do labels - how bizarre🧐🤔 yes, ask. It is helpful for you to know for many reasons - what works for Jolie and what doesn't. If it is Cerenia, ask about the Zofran/Ondansetron  It is used off-label for cats here and is a godsend when needed. Im glad to hear no vomiting.

Ok, on the pain meds, if i figure that right he was on pain meds for six days after amputation? I am glad you do not see any pain signals ; that is not the norm, and lack of eating can be a pain signal, but I realize you have many things going on, so it is hard to know precisely why he does not want to eat.

Purrkins was on pain meds for 14 days, and he needed all those 14 days.

My main worry is what his blood count will be on Monday...

WE understand about the blood counts. I would be too, and we are for 🙏🏻🤞🏻 You have the tripawd power behind you, love, prayers, and HOPE.

Monday will be 2 weeks since operation.  The vet it's not surprising that he's not eating alot. The strange thing is that they said he was eating at the hospital. They have both always been picky eaters. At least he is eating something. I think it's his sense of smell that gets out of wack. The place where I buy snacks gave me a sample of urinary care food tube that he really likes so I've been relying on that and syringe feeding. His weight has been stable at 4.84 kilos.

Thank you so much for the positive energy and prayers and hope ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡

That can be an issue with cats and smell.

Have you ever tried a vaporizer ? If you dont have one take Jolie in the bathroom when its all hot and steamy5 minutes or so then see if he will eat.

Try some warm broth on Jolie's food. Try bringing the smell out of the foods you are feeding by warming them. Warm fresh chicken on top of his dry or a warmed broth are ideas. Yep rely on anything you know works and keep doing what your doing, Any chance you have Gerber's baby food there stage 2 they are only meat and gravy. It's not a balanced food like the tube treats but it might be another thing to try its higher in calories which I know Jolie could use plus most cats adore it, Turkey & Gravy, Chicken and gravy.

They wont cease🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻  we have friends and family praying and thinking of Jolie & you!!

Hugs
