OMC! ADORABLE. So darn cute!!!
You want him to be chill right now. What you perceive as "depressed" is what recovering from MAJOR surgery while on some good pain meds looks like! Hoomans would still be in the hospital on a morphine drip!
Hang in there! You doing great👍

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Maybe the depression was just how I was feeling. It's been hard to adjust to seeing him with 3 legs. Although much of the shock is from his bad haircut lol. Anyway, I am feeling better today. These posts got me thinking about enrichment, so I gave him my ipad playing 9 hours of bird videos. He loves it! And I love how he's all curled up with the teddy bear and his two mice - that's all him!
Yes!! I can try to save you the grief of him losing that useless limb.... I'll never forget watching Huck drag it along.... his little toes moved even though they said that limb was dead.
After surgery I saw a different cat. I actually saw his relief ❤ Life over euthanasia... it was totally worth the trip.
We played calming kitty music and had cat tv for Huck too! That way if we both had to leave his room he had something to occupy himself with. And he loved it.
I cannot explain in words how amazing it is to see Huck lay belly up with no remorse for that long gone leg. As a kitten, i think it will be even easier for yours.
Don't beat yourself up. And please don't mistake that drowsy comfortable healing process for depression. He needs to stay calm and sleep. Just make sure in between naps that he's well hydrated and eating some.. hydration first👍
If any of that changes you need to let your vet know.
Baby steps ❤❤❤
Pawsome job 🥰🐾

Yep, ditto Jackie👍
And that picture shows a happy kitty loving his "enrichment" birdies and his stuffies. No "depression" in site!

PS....What I found more of a "shock" was the amount of fur shaved off! When it started filling in I didn't even notice she was a tripawd.....and she never did notice!

OMC! That is the most precious photo ever! Mind if I put it in our Tripawds Gallery? Sooo cute. It's awesome he likes the bird videos. I hope they continue to help him chill and recuperate.
Anyone who's been through this amputation decision knows how hard it is to come to terms with everything. We feel an incredible burden for having to make that decision on behalf of the animal, when they had no say. But we just have to keep reminding ourselves that amputation isn't something we do to them, it's something we do for them, so they can go on and enjoy a pain-free life.
Watch and learn, you'll see that your amazing Trikitty is showing you how to overcome and adapt the best way pawsible.

Jerry, feel free to use the photo - hopefully it will cheer up other new moms to tripawds. And yeah the choice was amputation or euthanasia... not a difficult decision! I need to remember how fortunate it is that he was rescued and treated. And I am grateful that he's doing so well.
Paws120 - I do remember how sad it was seeing him drag around the cast on his right leg. Trying to use the litter box with that was super sad... He's so much better now, being free from that. I look forward to being amazed by him!!
Paw shucks thank you, we will.
You sound GREAT! It's wonderful how you are so upbeat, and are seeing a brighter future ahead. We are too! You've got one super lucky kitty!
