That's great input! Huckleberry is a right rear amputee and that really helps.  Looks like we all have strong willed furbabies big-blink

Definitely!  Rusty is rear left!

Rusty "The Bunnyman" adopted us in 2014.  Aug/Sept 2017, back left leg amputated (HSA cancer).  He remained cancer free over 900 days. Cancer returned as of emergency visit on day 931. 15 days later, he gained his wings 04/18/2020 due to congestive heart failure.  He will always watch over his fellow tripawds and their hoomins with Head Scritches and Sand Paper Kisses.

I have zero advice, but I sure did LMAO as I read through this!!!   You are EXCELLENT at channeling Ravens inner-thoughts! 🙂

You and  the Mrs Warden are handling what woukd normally be a stressful time, with an incredible humor and wit!   That delightful attitude helps you  blast through all these challenges in such a positive way!!

I thoroughly enjoy the manner with which yiu chronicle all these...er..adventures!!   BRILLIANTLY DONE! 🙂

Hugs to all

Ditto to all you make a stressful time humorous and that helps you & I hope the Warden! I still think your a hero! You were just a little unprepared hero;) We all learn as we go!

Purrkins did the same thing on his release he was all over the house up and down the human staircases he inspected every inch of the house. We were terrified he was not.

We had time to plan before our surgery and padded our floors with exercise mats and got him steps to his favorite spots. We wanted Purrkins to be able to do everything he was used to on 4 on 3 safely less worry for us pawents too!

I didn’t move any of use favorite spots but added stairs for him to get up and down safely. Stairs to our bed to the sofa to his window seats. We rearranged furniture and moved things closer together. Added some rugs & rug runners for traction .

We lost a 4 legged cat from a fall off our kitchen table. Compound fracture he was not a candidate for surgery. So going into this with Purrkins (front leg amp) we were doing the better safe then sorry route. I will always suggest steps to any 3 legged animal & four as they age. Life experiences change a person!

We only have 3 legs now we have to protect those legs & think long term the one leg whichever it is will still be taking more of a load. The less load to that leg the better .

Purrkins uses all of his steps he did as soon as we put them out and his quad brother uses them to. It all depends on where Raven loves to go and hung out before . Provide a safer way up and down for her in whatever way you can.

The rugs we added because Purrkins was slipping nothing major but enough to see we should address it and we did and he follows the rugs and his confidence excelled even further.  Purrkins doesn't act like he has 3 legs he is not disabled but differently abled  🙄

I'm pleased to report things have settled down a bit.

I think Raven just needed to survey her entire kingdom to make sure everything was still in order, and reassert her status as alpha cat.  We've been following her around the house to identify challenges.  We removed a few hazards, closed off some rooms, and have solved some jumping issues with strategically placed ottomans.  I've looked at kitty stairs (thanks for the tips!).  Final approval is pending--household decisions that have aesthetic implications are made at the warden-level around here.

Speaking of the warden, things have been calm here, so she began to brainstorm.

Warden: "Hey, let's try this.."

Me: "Good Lord! Have you been drinking? No, I do NOT think that is a good idea."

Warden: "Well, we haven't tried it yet, and we could get that cone off earlier. I'm worried Raven could strangle herself around the house with that cone."

Wolverine:  "You two want to do what with me?"

Image Enlarger

Wolverine:  "Ok, sure. Why don't you give that a shot."

Sometimes it is easier to demonstrate than argue, so I indulged the warden.  Tripawd member Kazaann requested this earlier..

... It will be be fun to see photos of her in the Vetgood suit. It could be even funnier seeing a video of you putting her in the suit!!

Your Raven and my Mona have similar faces. Cuties.

It is a short clip, because the rest is too graphic, but here's how it went down..

If anyone has use for an x-small VetGood recovery suit, let me know.  Never worn, never washed.  It is a freebie to anyone who agrees to pass it along to other tripawd members once finished with it.

As I said earlier Purrkins did the same thing inspected every inch of the house in fact  2 x before it appeared it was still home and all was where he left it.

That's too bad on the suit Raven doesn't even know it was her ticket to freedom . That is very kind of you please post it in the angel exchange with the requirements someone will indeed need it and use it! Post if you would like them to pay for postage or visa versa;)

Thank you for our entertainment of the day! We will see you sometime tomorrow with our daily reminder of the countdown for Raven I think you mean Spartan Raven? Couldn't resist !laughing

laughing Exactly what I expected! That's why I wanted a video. It did seem like a good idea, but then Raven is a cat....

I think the next person who takes you up on your kind offer of the recovery suit could also make a video when dressing their cat. Hopefully there won't be too much blood.

I'm happy to hear Raven is got a pass to survey her house and make sure everything is in order. I put cardboard boxes and chairs out for Mona and she chose to use them when she realized it was easier on her body to climb down than take flying leaps like she used to. She doesn't care for foot stools or steps. I think they don't work well for her because she has short legs. She seems to like banker boxes the best. You'll find what Raven prefers.

Thanks for the great story of attempting to dress Raven. Raven, you'll be coneless soon and free to live life on your terms.
