Tripawd Tuesday Special Edition: Meet Fabulous Finnsley

When a Tripawds member in Tennessee sent us this story about her best friend Finnsley, we knew we had to share it with you on a Tripawd Tuesday. Meet Tripawd Finnsley, a three-legged Australian Shepherd Tripawd won the doggie lotto when she was rescued from abuse and neglect by the incredible human, Billie Jean.

Finnsley Finds Her Forever Friend

Hi my name is Billie Jean, this story is about a special girl, she is a full blood black tri Australian Shepard with the most beautiful eyes and sweetest temperament, her names Finnsley!

Finnsley was left on a cable by someone very cruel, I seen the person hadn’t returned for her and began feeding her daily. I called rescues and shelters, but due to the high demand and overpopulation no one showed up for her.

Scared and Hurt, Finnsley Let Billie Jean Help

I continued to feed her and play with her but one day literally 5 days ago I went to see her as I did many times daily and she was hid behind a old mower and was no longer on the cable.  She was unable to walk. And scared. I reached out to the supposed owner with no luck. I decided to take her to an emergency clinic.

Unfortunately her front right humerus was broke in two. They sent us home with meds and said to see my vet asap as she would need a orthopedic surgeon. I did just that and took her to my vet that I have used for years ! She is the best ! Dr Brady at Vet clinic, Blaine TN.

Upon seeing her she discovered Finnsley had no feeling to her paw, from the break down.

She had lost blood supply and unfortunately the damage was not able to be repaired, what’s even worse is there are no other marks only a clean break, and the way the bones broke, my vet suspects someone may have done this, intentionally:( Dr. Brady scheduled her surgery and we are now 3 days post-op.

She is a strong girl, she is adjusting well and even wanted her ball today !

Of course she is hurting, but she is healing. I am now her registered owner. She has had all vaccinations and once healed, hopefully will be back to her rambunctious self! I am trying to learn and understand what life will be like in the future.

But no matter what no one will ever hurt this baby again,  she will never be alone again. And she will be loved. Always. Thank you for your time now some pics of this beautiful girl!

This sweet girl is doing well, she had her stitches out yesterday ! Considering how bad the break was this baby’s front leg was an emergency situation,

A few days after amputation, I could tell something was not right.

After getting some scans of her back legs and hips we have discovered she also has hip dysplasia and the start of arthritis in her back legs.

It’s not the news we wanted but with the right amount of physical therapy, medicine and I’m hoping to find a water therapy she can do, since it’s best for her hips.

My vet said she will have a little bit of a bumpy rode but she will be ok.

Its been financially hard, I’m on disability so I have started looking into resources that can hopefully help, I also thought about starting a go fund me, so I can be certain I can give her the best outcome. I am very happy I found this community, I have already read stories and experiences. I have learned alot as well just by reading things from Tripawds!!
