Back in 2018, we introduced you to Lawri’s Tripawd Journey. Today for Tripawd Tuesday, we are saluting this special cat once more. She lost her leg at 5 years old, and lived a joyful life as a three legged cat for 11 years.
In June, Lawri got her angel wings. At 16 years old, she will forever remain an inspiration to all amputee cats, but especially senior amputee cats. Her mom sent this tribute to us in her beloved kitty’s honor. Join us in honoring this unforgettable three-legged cat.
Lawri’s Tripawd Cat Journey
I rescued Lawri as a 5 week old kitten with her sister, Pangi, while on vacation in Barbados. At five years of age, Lawri was diagnosed with Feline Injection Site Fibrosarcoma of her right rear leg. She underwent amputation and 19 radiation treatments under sedation. This was only to extend her life anywhere from a few months to 2-3 years. She tolerated the surgery and radiation like the fighter she was and survived nearly 12 more years. All those years were good, although she also fought small cell intestinal lymphoma for 30 months with chemo.
On June 28, 2022, at 16 years 10 months of age, my Warrior Princess was assisted over The Rainbow Bridge and joined her sister (🌈2016).
Lawri saw me through some very rough losses plus a total knee replacement and recently a fractured femur same leg. She was my example of courage and strength.
For those going through the Tripawd journey, she’d want you to know, be pawsitive, allow yourself to hope. Cancer isn’t always a death sentence.
She survived long past statistics for survival of sarcoma and lymphoma. Lawri played, she had adventures and gave so much love.
