Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!
UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!
Thanks Karma and Michelle, that is going to be very helpful.
TripawdCorgi, I'm in Richmond also, welcome to RVA! There are quite a few tripawds in the area 🙂

Hey gang...
Don't use the survey link from my post above from 3/15 with a time stamp of 10:34pm or the link Michelle posted too on 3/16 at 4:15pm. That is a preview link and it is not collecting anybody's answers. My mistake.
This is the survey link to use:

If you have already taken the survey, please resubmit so we can get you included in our list.
Sorry gang,

Adelaide is a young tripawd Husky, from an injury. Her amp was on 10/1/12. She has 4 sisters, Aissa (a senior border collie/chow), Maggie May (a puppy Great Pyrenees), Mathilde and Morrigan and 1 baby brother, Bagheera. We are all watched over by our angel Brendol, who was dx with OSA 1/30/13, amp on 2/6/13, and left us on 8/20/13.

Osteo and amputation in Dec 2015. Second, inoperable, primary osteosarcoma found in June 2017.
The end of our adventures came Dec 10, 2017. 2 years to the day.
That's wonderful Tina! That'll work out great considering you'll be driving from DC with Alison and Clare. You'll all be coming to the same destination 😀 We'll have Karma add you to the spreadsheet for the houses. This will truly be an International meet up! Looking forward to it for sure!
So awesome. I can not wait to get th ere and meet everyone. This is going to be wonderful 🙂

I am delighted to be the chauffeur for the international contingency! And even more glad that they get to experience my driving they may regret their requests to ride along! Kidding. I'm a great driver when I have company in the car and my little dog. And I highly doubt traffic in DC to Richmond will be akin to driving in LA on a regular day. I am so excited as to how this has all worked out ... bigger and better than we could have hoped for.
Can't wait to see you all!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
Me too. Giddy with excitement!
Ruby, Staffy, born June 2022, became a Tripawd, November 2023, adopted January 2024.
Also Angel Tripawd Meg (aka The Megastar), who died in April 2023, aged 14, after seven glorious years on three, and Angel Staffies Elsie Pie and Bille. In the pawprints of giants...
YAAAAAAAAAY 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 YAAAAAAAAAY!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 UNBELIEVABLY HAPPY!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
OOOOOOOOMMMMMMMDDDDDDDD 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
AND WICKETT's COMING TOO!!!!!!''':-) 🙂 🙂 🙂 WOW!!!!!
I'm just wuite confused'on lodging though. I was looking for lodging for Clare and Alison and anyone else who needed to be somewhat closed to Rockwood Park and/or needed dog lodging.
I had a couple of hotels in a GOOD and SAFE area and was just getting ready to post
When Elizabeth and I first started with the very, very PRELIMINARY suggestions of hotels, etc, It was our hope....expectation....that we all would be probably in same hotel and thst was kind of what we were shooting for. Pretty much anyone spensing a night...or sevrral...would all be able to spend great time connecting and sharing. Pretty much an opportunity of a lifetime!! 🙂 🙂
I know it went from there to a couple of houses being rented in a different area from where Elizabeth and I were looking. I think that's wonderful and the houses are absolutely adorable!!! It's going to be a grest retreat and so relaxing! 🙂 🙂 great find!! 🙂
Not realizing that some of the most recent...hmm.."great add ons"....had already made arrangements to stay at the houses (which I thought were fillednup awhile ago),'I kept looking lodging. Soooooo.......I was still checking into another "hotel base" so everyone else woukd have ample "connection and sharing" with...and I'm just throwing names out there...Meg, Ingrid, now Tina, Alison, Cheryl, Cassie,Bonnie, Lori etc...
Some of you may have seen a post a couple of days ago where I was trying to gather a list. I was trying to get some special discounts depending on how many wanted to share a room, etc. Yeah....I heard the crickets chirping at that post 🙂
Soooooo.......finally, right???? I can try and cancel Rockwood Park (shouldn't be a problem). I will check to see if there are any dog parks in the area everyone else is staying. It sounds like you all have more space available in those houses. That way, we can try and keep everyone together.
My top priority is to do whatever it takes to accommodate those who are traveling cross county or across oceans!!! 🙂 🙂 My other previous priority was to try and have us all staying at a dog friendly hotel together.....all close to a dog park. 🙂 🙂 I was also hoping to make the location accessible to any tourist locations if anyone wanted to sightsee.
Let me know whatever. For now, I'm holding up in getting any lodging possibilities and I'll make inwuiries avout getting th payment back on Rockwood. Again, I'm sure that's not a problem
Lots and lots of love!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Please don't change the location Granted I'm only one person and of course the majority matters more, but it took my roommate and I FOREVER to find a hotel close to Rockwood that would take all 4 dogs and didn't cost an arm and a leg (just ask Michelle and Karma, they were in on the hotel finding lol). I can rearrange if another location would suite the majority better. Our current hotel is the Red Roof Inn in Richmond, about 15-20 mins from Rockwood Park. The original hotels that were posted as possibilities either wouldn't take all 4 dogs, or the pet fees were too high
Let me know what's decided ASAP so I can change our hotel if needed, with that being a holiday weekend I don't want to wait until last minute to book something. Can't wait to meet everyone!!!

Domino had his left front leg amputate on May 13th 2014 after being hit by a car. He's now living a happy healthy life on three legs :)
Sally,
I don't think our current arrangements are any problem. Most everyone staying out at the houses are fine with driving in to the park. It's not a big deal. And I don't know of anyone having lodging difficulties. I think Cassie's was the most difficult with the 4 pups. My vote is leave it alone.

Agreed, I just told Sally we should leave it be, Rockwood is definitely the most accommodating park for all of us and I think we are lucky to have that pavilion being that it's a holiday weekend.
If any of you are having issues finding lodging or have ANY questions about lodging (or anything else about the Richmond area) please don't hesitate to IM me. If I don't know the answer I will definitely find out. The hotel Cassie is in is pretty close to the park, and the houses are within a 30 minute drive ..... and are a great place to host the after parties (hehe).

Totally agree... let's leave it where it is. I don't think anyone has a problem with the location - especially now that a lot of plans have been made and arranged. And I also haven't heard of any issues w/problems finding housing. 🙂
