Howard has been slowing down for the last 4 days. He stops to take breaks when doing potty like he did after his amputation. He seems fine otherwise. Eats well and seems happy but I worry we may have chest Mets. We have another oncologist appointment next Tuesday and I’m wondering what people did when this happened? It seems to be in his hind end I think. His legs shake when he squats to pee. Any advise would be appreciated. On a side note, he did an under water treadmill session Tuesday and was fine then.

I know it's  jard not to jump to the worse case scenario.   We all do it soooo well on this crazy journey!

It's  VERY  likely that he's  tweak a muscle, has a sprain, etc.  It's  sooo easy for a tripawd to do something  like this and you won't  even know how they did it!

Massage up and down his spine, his neck, his shoulders and see if you note any tense areas.  It could evem be apme soreness due to the underwatwer therapy.  For whatever reason,  it , at have been a touch too mich for him that day...a little to fast....not enough water, etc.

Keep him on "bed rest" for a few days.  Give him some Rimadyl  and maube some pain meds for a few days, only with a Vet approval of course.

It's  good news thst he's  eating, etc and still being Howard!

Keep us posted.

Metastases will not cause limb weakness, though they can cause exhaustion in there advanced stages, when you would likely notice other symptoms like a deep wet cough.

What kind of exercise is Howard getting? Remember, walks do not build strength, only stamina. There are various starter exercises you can do to develop leg muscles in remaining limbs. The best recommendation, however, is to consult with a certified rehab vet/tech for a professional evaluation, treatment recommendations and exercises you can do at home to keep Howard fit and strong. Are you working with a CCRP or CCRT at the clinic where he gets his hydrotherapy?

Yes we are. He goes every Tuesday and sees a certified rehab tech at the same practice we do his chemo and had his amputation. I also do stretch exercises daily. He is a lazy dog and we love in NY where it is icy and snowy which he does not like
