Signs of Lung Mets: What should I expect with Tanner?

Hi everyone.

Tanner continues to do fine and so far there aren't any obvious signs of any disease process.  I was wondering though what signs I should be looking for when those nasty lung mets invade.  From all of your experience might he gradually slow down or might it be a sudden decline?  I know every tripawd is different but just curious as to what to expect.  Just a reminder for those new to the site:  Tanner is a 2 1/2 year old golden retriever that was diagnosed with osteosarcoma Oct 16 and had his amp Nov 4.  I want to get a jump on the possible signs and symptoms so I can readily take him to our vet.

As always, thank you everyone for everything.  Happy Holidays!

The nasty truth is that any signs you might notice without regular x-rays will be signs of advanced metastasis. Preventative medicine is best. That and a promise to Tanner to make the most of every moment.

All dogs are indeed different. I eventually slowed down physically – gradually – but eventually requiring more and more rest time when playing. Eventually I made deep hacking noises that you could never confuse for a typical dry dog cough or sneeze.

My people chose not to go the monthly x-ray route with me. Instead we focussed on a happy healthy life on three legs, which lasted nearly two years.
