Rox is really cute! she seems to be doing well. So glad she has a "doggie brother" to keep her company, because this is important. My other golden ( Pepa, 4 yr old girl ) has been a great companion to Johnnie. Before the surgery they slept in our room, but I eliminated the stairs from Johnnie's life and how both dogs are sleeping together in our home office.
I am a fan of the t-shirts, but I also had a bandage around Johnnie's incision, per vet's recommendation, and had to do the cleaning at least once a day, sometimes more than once in the 2 days there was a lot of drainage. This varies a lot from dog to dog, from what I have seen in this forum, also because each surgery is different.
This was my "kit" for the daily cleaning and bandage: first-aid-kit
Keep up the good spirits and all will go well. Today we celebrated Johnnie's 2-month ampuversary which a barbecue!

Our awesome Golden Boy was diagnosed for OSA in April 2014 in the proximal humerus, front-leg amp on 05/20/2014. Finished chemo (Carbo6) on 07/10/2014. Ongoing treatment: acupuncture + K-9 Immunity Plus ( 3chews) and home-cooked no-grain diet. Stopped Apocaps because of liver issues. Liver issues: controlling altered enzymes with SAM-e and Milk Thistle. October 17: started having seizures. Taking fenobarbital for seizures. April 18: started prednisone.

DThank you for the encouragement. And her pink booties work alright, but only for short periods. I mainly use them on her when it is time to go outside and to bed, because she has to traverse some carpeted floor. I am thinking about trying out the wax that was recommended. If that doesn't work, we'll get a few more runners for the hallways.
Aww don't feel badly about leaving her alone for a bit, she probably enjoyed the peace and quiet and not having a worried momma around for a little while. As for the booties, you might want to try Pawz, they're a great inbetween boot for times when you're not sure if real boots will work on her:

That is a great suggestion, Jerry. I think something like that would be really helpful for her. She really only needs the boots for when she needs to go potty. Otherwise she almost always just hangs out nearby. I ended up buying some immediately last night, because while getting her ready for bed, I was prepping everything to take her outside. I wasn't even thinking about it, but I ended up forgetting her boots (that sure won't happen again). She was hopping on the carpet so confidently, but the moment she hit the hardwood, she wiped out. She landed safely, but it was still a pretty messy fall, her poor legs just went right out from under her. She was very careful on her way back into the house, even though at that point she had the socks on. I felt so terrible about it, but it serves as a reminder not to rush getting ready for bed.
Awww poor thing. Not sure if I suggested this but have you looked at carpet runners? I know they aren't the most attractive thing to have around the house but a clear path to the outside potty spot would make all the difference in her confidence, plus for you to think about when getting her ready for bed. I've been able to find ours at Costco for $10 or so.
