So, Champ had his trip to the oncologist today and she wanted to re-do the xrays our regular vet had done. In a different view she saw a 1 cm nodule that wasn't there 3 months ago. He's been on metronomic chemo for the past 5 months. His dx was hemangiosarcoma and he had 5 chemo treatments of doxirubicin.
I am pretty devastated right now as I'd really thought we were beating this.
My questions to all here are...
1) What's the experience you have had once your dog showed lung mets? Our vet doesn't really want to give a prognosis.
2) What's your experience or what have you heard about palladia? I know it's expensive. She wants to alternate between the chemo pill he is on with the palladia. But I'm not seeing a lot on the internet about the use of palladia for hemangiosarcoma.
Any responses would be greatly appreciated. It's been 14 months since he was first diagnosed with cancer, 10 months since his spleenectomy, and 5 months since his amputation. I am still intent on fighting this.

When we discovered Jerry's lung mets, we started him on both metronomics (Cytoxan) and K9 Immunity which we believe contributed to his longevity. He lived almost another nine months.

Thanks for the links. He's on K9 Immunity Plus as well.
Unfortunately no one has mentioned palladia for hemangiosarcoma. I'm just really confused right now. I don't know what choice to make.

Keep on fighting the good fight Champ. Tai went on Palladia once we discovered lung mets and didn't suffer any side effects. It didn't seem to slow down her mets but I know Mackenzie did show positive signs that the Palladia was effective. Tai had osteosarcoma, and I think Mackenzie did too, not hemangiosarcoma so I can't comment on that aspect. Good luck with your decision, it can all be so overwhelming I know. I just wanted to offer my support.

I sent you a PM but I do think the Palladia is worth a try. If Champ can't handle the side effects you could always stop it.

I am still not sure what I going to do. I am hoping the oncologist calls me this week so we can discuss options. This is a tough decision.
Today we went for a car ride. Champ loves car rides. My daughter and I agreed to take him every weekend to PetSmart so he can have some fun... he's such a good baby.
