My sweet Golden girl, Callie celebrated her 11th birthday last week and is 4 months post amp! Best news yet, final chemo treatment done and X-rays show no signs of any evident cancer!! So question now..... Treat with the low dose oral chemo pill? Cytoxan and non steroid anti-inflammatory med piroxicam? Good? Bad? Wait?

Congrats to Callie! That's a good Q...perhaps post it in the Ask a Vet forum? What does your onco vet suggest?

Deb and Angel Lexie* Diagnosed at age 13. Tried radiation first; wish we had amputated upon diagnosis (even with lung mets). Joined Club Tripawd April 2014 & Lexie loved life on 3 legs! Advice: Start physical therapy as soon as your vet clears it, especially hydrotherapy if available :-) See Lexie pics here.

Awww. Well hoppy birthday to Callie and congrats that she has clear x-rays!

Does your onco recommend oral chemo? Most will recommend it and as long as there are no side effects it can't hurt to have this extra treatment for keeping cancer away. See our topic about Metronomics for more info, and I'm sure others will chime in too.

We chose metronomics and it was a great option for us, inexpensive and easy to give. Some have had side effects like UTIs but switching from cytoxan to leukeran helped fix that problem.

Like anything when it comes to cancer, there are no right or wrong answers, everyone is different and we will support you no matter what you decide.
