Hey everyone! Today Max is 1 week post first chemo treatment and Sunday will be his 1 mo post amp ampuversary!! We got the results from his CBC just a few minutes ago……platelet count 169000 and white blood cell count is just below normal. He is on Prednisone so that may be why the white count is a little low…but Im THRILLED with the results overall. It looks like we have gotten a handle on the Thrombocytopenia and he has done very well with the chemo. I had to give him anti nausea meds which really helped and for those that remember he was having unexplained pain, which the vet gave Tramadol and Gabepentin for. They seem to be working as well. Max is pretty much back to his old self. He has started coming upstairs to sleep at night again and is chasing the cat (its a game with the 2 of them..makes me crazy!) He still wont sleep on his beds except for occasionally, so I dont know if the pain is still there or if he just has gotten in the habit of sleeping on the floor. Its been really cold here(-25 actual temp this morn) so going potty on 3 legs has been a little tough, but he is a trooper!! I cant even put into words how relieved and happy I am to have “the baby” back! He is such a good boy and makes us all smile with his Labby antics. He even stole a toilet paper roll out of the wastebasket the other day. YAY!!!
Ill keep everyone posted with his progress….next chemo is Feb 3rd as long as everything stays in line!

Disclaimer: Max is not your typical amp patient. He has had additional issues that most dogs dont encounter with this surgery. If you are considering amp surgery for your dog, we HIGHLY recommend it! It will take away the pain and give them the quality of life they deserve.

So glad to hear things are going so well- isn't it wonderful. I think it is histerical how Max keeps playing the little tricks he does , showing you he is still your little baby.
CA Wrigley just had her 1 week after chemo- her bloodwork was normal so that was a relief. Next round is Jan.29. So far not a single side effect- so we're keeping our fingers crossed we continue this path.
-25- brrrrrr that's cold. Going potty in that is a definite trooper .
Keep us posted- look forward to the next update.

Congratulations Max and Paula! 
We are so happy to hear that the "old Max" is coming back! Did you hear about the heat wave we are suppose to get up here in the northeast? It's suppose to be in the 20's tomorrow and more snow! So happy and proud of Max that he has persevered through his other health issues and continues to do incredibly well! Please give him some big furry warm hugs from us!!!
