Hi I am new to this so hope getting it right.
I am from an animal shelter in England and we have an amputee. He was hit by a car as a puppy and his front leg was withered so nevered used it. On coming to this country late 2010 he was neutered and had his leg removed. He is not an easy dog and doesn't trust us humans too well and takes ages to bond. So quite difficult in doing too much with him. We would love to rehome him but because of the trust thing it will need someone to vist weekly if not daily for him to trust them. Unfortunatly when he does he can then guard!! Our problem is that if he goes on anything more than his usual short walks he comes back with a real problem on his back leg (diaganal to front missing one) Is this a common problem with amputees?
Many thanks
Lyn

Perfect. Your future forum posts will not require moderation. If you are looking to find this pup a furever home, please post complete details in the Tripawd Rescue Forum. What's his name?
How exactly does this "real problem" present itself? We recommend a consultation with a rehab vet like those at CARE if you have concerns about mobility. Our Jerry lost a front leg but it wasn't until he had a partial ACL tear that we learned to limit his activity and use the Bella's Hot/Cold Pain Relief Pack to ease his pain. It was about that time that we discovered the importance and benefits of core strengthening exercises for three legged dogs.
