Emily's white blood count went up and she was able to have her second chemo!
Debra & Emily, a five year old doberman mix, who was diagnosed with an osteosaecoma. She had a right rear leg amputation on May 19, 2009. On November 10, 2009 she earned her wings and regained her fourth leg.

This is tremendous news!!!! As you probably already know, skipping a treatment or even reducing the dose can have dramatic negative effects on the long term prognosis. In Cherry's case, she lost all appetite during the chemo treatments. Her chemotherapy started just hours after the amputation. I literaly had to stuff nearly every morsel of food during the treatments. After this reaction from the first treatment, the doctor wanted to reduce the dose. We had a very serious and firm discussion that I did not care how bad my fingers were looking due to the fact that I had to stuff Cherry, we wanted the best long term prognosis possible. We are now at seven months and counting.
Go get them Emily - this fight is well worth the great quality of life that will return once the chemicals are gone. We are pulling for your family and send all the posititve thoughts and hugs we can. We look forward to hearing how Emily celebrated her seven month anniversary.
