Hello, has anybody had experience with treating edema on the amputation site? The stitches went out on sunday (2 days ago) and since then edema set in on the underside of the suture line. She doesn't seem to be bothered by it, in fact she often lays in the grass on her surgery side.
Horacias rear legs get a bit swollen after a whole day too, but I guess that could be normal because of the warm weather and exertion.
Thanks for any advice as to how to treat this.

Hi Cecilia,
Ths sounds like it could be a "seroma ," which is a fluid buildup. Usually it's nothing to worry about, but you can treat it with hot and cold compresses. This is a post we did about seromas. Hope it helps!

thanks a lot! It actually is a very small seroma and it is already shrinking with warm/cold compresses throughout the day.
