Hey all, I know it's been a few days since I updated, but I have been so exhausted! A'Tuin is doing well. He got his staples out on Friday. I'll post a link to his update on the blog below, but here are the highlights:

  • We got the pathology report back, it is osteosarcoma.
  • Laura did some checking into things (mostly for affordability), and has decided that she feels comfortable giving A'Tuin chemo, so we will do 5-6 rounds of adriamycin (doxorubicin)...
  • This isn't on the blog, but it was amazing. When I took A'Tuin to Laura on Friday, she told me that she had taken care of all of the costs of the treatment and said "Merry Christmas!"

I also have some pics of the incision, but haven't uploaded them yet. I will post the links here once I do.

A'Tuin's update on the blog: http://unconven.....l?spref=tw

A'Tuin's story can be found on my personal blog along with a dash of my life and poetry.

I said goodbye to my puppy love on 5/15/14 after more than tears years of the greatest love I've ever known.

Kat,

This is all WONDERFUL news!  I'm so glad to hear A'Tuin is doing so well and you are so fortunate to have Laura in your life.  It's so nice to have someone with such a generous soul and gives me goosebumps that there are still good people in this world.

Jill had doxorubicin (every other treatment, she had carbo on the other treatments) so let me know if you have any questions!  She tolerated it very well!

So glad to hear the great news!

xoxo,

Erica & Jill

Jill is a 9-year-old tuxedo kitty. She was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in June 2012 on her toe in her right hind leg. Her leg was amputated on 12/12/12 and she completed four rounds of chemo (2 of Carbo, 2 of Doxy) in April 2013. Kat,

I am sorry about the diagnosis (confirmation) of OSA.  I am so glad that you have such a wonderful person in your life that took care of the costs for you.  A very generous gift.  I am glad A'tuin is getting along so well.

Hugs

Kat, I'm glad he's doing so well and very sorry to hear about the diagnosis, that's so heartbreaking. But WOW. To have a friend like Laura on this journey, well, between her and A'Tuin, that's just the best medicine there is.

It really is! I've been super blessed by everyone on this journey, it's been the best possible reaction to horrible news. Even my alma mater is showing A'Tuin support by sharing his picture and story on their facebook page: http://unconven.....pride.html

After ten edits, it clearly hates me, haha.

A'Tuin! Great update! See how special you are? Look at all the love comingyour way! And we all think your mom's pretty special too! She's quite the caregiver to all species!

The potos are wonderful! But you can only take perfect pictures.....can't mess up that mug!

And Kat, looks like sometimes good things do happen to nice people! That was lovely what Laura did! She sounds mighty special too!

Love hearing your post!

Hugs to all....and your grandma too!

That is one excellent update, we have our paws crossed that he doesn't have any side effects.

It was great seeing squishy kitty and hearing about Laura's side business. She's amazing and very talented!

Good update for A'tuin.  All that family support is awesome too.  My parents, particularly my dad, have always been a great help with the pugs.

Maybe A'tuin and quad pug Obie can compare notes on what scares them!  Although Obie's list is pretty simple- everything that moves!

What happened to all the time?!? A'Tuin is doing really well and I have written a long overdue update on my blog. He goes in for chemo round #2 on Thursday with a new drug (looks like the doxo damaged his heart a little bit) but he;s running and playing and doing overall quite well. Tomorrow is 5 weeks post amp!

I am sorry to hear about A'tuin's heart murmur.  I hope that it isn't serious.  I hope that otherwise he gets a great check up.  The yelping could be phantom pains.  Have Laura check into giving him Gabeptin (I am sure I spelled that wrong we didn't use it) but a lot here have used it for phantom pains.

Oh man I'm sorry to hear about the heart murmur from the doxo but your amazing Dr. Laura is great for being so on top of things. I hope the new stuff works without a hitch, keep us posted. As for the yelping, it could be phantom pain but it's so hard to tell. If it keeps happening I would definitely ask about the Gabapentin.

I just love the pic you shared!
