Just wondering if anyone on this site is dealing with a histiocytic sarcoma?

I'll let you know...this was one of Cooper's possible diagnoses.  Still waiting for biopsy results.

Our 7 year old chocolate lab Frankie was just diagnosed with histiocytic sarcoma.  She has a very large tumor in her lung and it has spread to her spinal cord.  Both tumors are inoperable.  We are hoping for the best, but have been given a grim prognosis.  We met with one oncologist today which really didn't go well.  We are meeting with another one who does cyberknife radiation on Thursday and hope to have a better discussion and treatment plan.  We will keep you posted.

I'm sorry. Liz. Hang in there.

Holly, as you already know, Cooper's diagnosis is osteosarcoma. It was just in an atypical location.

Liz, thank you so much for registering and joining us here. We are so sorry about Frankie, and hope to hear better news from the other oncologist. Please keep us posted, we'd like to hear more about this oncologist, and the "cyberknife radiation" treatment.

Paws are crossed for you both.

Thank you for your kind thoughts.  This has been the worst week.  In addition to Frankie, we have 2 other labs and a brussels griffon.  Our brussels who is 4 died suddenly and unexpectedly yesterday.  It is a complete shock and I am completely devestated.  We are not completely sure what happened, but our vet thinks that she may have had a heart attack or stroke.  I had just let her out with our youngest lab in the back yard.  They started barking at our neightbors dog through the fence.  She would always get in a frenzy over this dog thinking that she could attack it.  Within just a few minutes all was quiet and when I called the dogs in, she didn't respond.  I found her lying by the fence, but she was already gone.  I still can't believe it.  It's like a piece of me is missing and I can't stop crying.  I know that Frankie is feeling my grief and that is the last thing that she needs right now.

We kept out appointment with the oncologist today for Frankie.  To our dismay, we have now learned that an ultrasound of her abdomen was not done at the other hospital when her initial MRIs and CTs were conducted.  This cancer, although a rare cancer internally, usually originates in the spleen and or liver and then metastizes to the lung.  Since we already know it is in the lung, we did the ultrasound on the abdomen and found some abnormalities in the liver and spleen.  There were aspirated and now we wait again.  If they are not cancer, we will do the "cyberknife" radiation to the spine to alieviate the spinal pain.  if they are cancer, cyberknife is out and our chances are even slimmer.  We did start chemo and a holistic med regemin with supplements today.  It's just a nightmare that seems to have no ending in sight.  I am trying to cope, but it's just been a devestating couple of days.  I will keep you posted.

So sorry to hear about your tragic loss on top of all you're going through. If you ask me, you are coping pretty well. It is an emotional roller coaster indeed. Thanks for taking the time to provide an update. Peace.
