My red flags are gone now and they may have been all along. I never really pay attention to them.
I spent an hour trouble shooting my computer on the random broken avatar links! Geeze, I thought it was Windows 7 since it coincided with a windows update! I should have brought it up! What a relief!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.

Today's disappearing act...
Today I was online trying to catch up- so every post on the main forum page had a red flag.
I read and posted in a few topics- when I would go back the red flags were still there. And since I was so behind the topics kept rolling over keeping all topics showing red flags.
At one point I walked away from the computer for awhile- leaving the main forum page open. All topics had red flags. I'm not sure how long it was, maybe 30 min. When I came back I clicked on the forums link in the breadcrumb bar as a sort of 'refresh' since I had been gone. When the forum page came back most of the red flags were gone- but there were three. It appears to me that the three topic posts that had red flags were new posts- those that had been posted since I went 'inactive'. All the other red flags were gone.
I don't know if that helps figure anything out...

Not really, but thanks anyway. We've got a Forum upgrade on the way, and hope to revisit this issue after that. Stay tuned...

I may be wrong , but krun15 said that she did a page refresh, and it was my understanding that the red flags were new posts since the last time you visited the forums and I have noticed that if I refresh the page or navigate away the flags are gone because they are no longer new posts since my last visit even though I havent read them yet. Just a thought.

the monkeydogs only THINK they have invaded the tripawd state
The flags should indicate topics with new posts you have not read yet. But as you have confirmed, they're not doing their job. Thanks.

my apologies for bad input... the flags dont disappear if I navigate away from the forums and back or if I refresh the page, they only disappear for me if I have read the post or if I happen to forget to log in when I go to read the post, THEN all the flags are gone until I login, Sorry for the bad input I will double check BEFORE I post next time

Which is exactly how it should work, thanks for the clarification! Is anyone else experiencing the mysrterious missing unread topic flags?

We just upgraded to the most current version of SimplePress, the plugin that powers these forums. If problems persist with disappearing unread topic flags, please clear any cookies you may have from tripawds.com. Not just clearing the cache, do that too, but also remove your Tripawds cookies. Then relaunch your browser.
You will need to enter your password upon visiting the site again, and allow ample time for unread posts to accumulate. But let's see if this did the trick. Thanks for your patience
