In our continuing efforts to enhance website performance, we'll be using this topic to track optimization tactics and review results. As with any system, maintaining best health is an ongoing struggle between features and performance.
These forums operate on a rather complex database and have grown to include a multitude of options members have requested and come to expect. Some attempts to limit database queries and improve speed may result in removal of certain functionality. At times we may request feedback, otherwise please refrain from posting off-topic replies. (Save it for the Anything Goes forum.)

Any feedback regarding site performance over the past 48 hours is greatly appreciated.
Now is also the time to let us know if you use the New/Recently updated Topics drop down menus at the bottom of all forum pages. This is yet another database call, and is redundant to the List we dispay the top of the main forum page. We received resistance, however, the last time we removed it.

Avatars reactivated site wide, turning them off broke the Blogs directory.

Forum avatars still dsabled while we continue to monitor performance.

Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
I would say forum speed here is about the same, maybe a touch faster, appreciate the effort and understand the frustration for improvement, Dan
My buddy Gus had a left front amputation on April 7, 2010 and lived a great life until July 26,2010
