So does someone mind explaining what these events are like? I've never been to one, but I think I'm only about half an hour away from Wheaton. I obviously wouldn't bring Smore since she wouldn't blend in very well with the dog crowd, but I might able to go.

Smore is my tripawd kitty who adopted me one summer evening. She had an injury to her front left leg and had to have her leg removed July 17th. She was only 3 or 4 months old at the time. Now she moves faster than some four legged cats!

This will likely be a smaller event. There will be some vendor booths - pet services and not for profits (rescues, etc). The walk itself starts at 11 and is 2 miles long. The exact schedule of events is on the walk website. We will have a Tripawds booth, where many of us will gather and hang out. Some people will bring dogs, some will not.
Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016. Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016. Lung mets August 25, 2016. Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016. Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.
Wherever they are, they are together.

Oh gosh! It would be sooooo wonderful to have you there representing SMORES and all kitties!! And just a half hour away too! 
The bonds you form and being around one of the kindest Souls in the world who understand the depth of love we all have for our dogs and cats.
I've been to two pawties in Virginia (one a very small gathering, one larger) and it truly nurtured my Soul

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Hmm Sally. That is tempting! If she were still harness trained, I'd probably do just that. She hasn't worn one in over a year because I can't find a good one for a tripawd. I'm not sure how well she'd stay in my arms though. I imagine a loose kitty would be all sorts of exciting there, lol.
I do imagine it would do wonders for the soul though!
Figures too that I still don't have my ribbon done when the leash is actually in my area. Might need to work on that before Saturday! Still waiting for her to tell me her favorite color.

I haven't made a ribbon for Murphy, yet, either. I think a part of me feels like since it's a tribute leash I want to put his dates on it, and he doesn't have one yet 🙂

Murphy had his right front leg amputated due to histiocytic sarcoma at 7 years old. He survived 4 years, 2 months & 1 week, only to be taken by hemangiosarcoma at 11 1/2 years 6/12/17

well, got my picture for Sassy. then I started packing just have a few things to add. I probably will over pack as I normally do because not sure how warm/cold the weather will be up there so planning on throwing in some jeans plus shorts LOL.
Tina please come both Friday & Saturday the more the merrier and I have orders from Sally to take lots of pictures and since you can't bring S'more bring a picture. I will be bringing one of my Angel Sassy.
